What are the risks for those who still use legacy Windows systems?

We tell you, it’s almost worth switching from an old OS to Windows 10

Official support for Windows 7 was discontinued a year ago – on January 14, 2020, and Windows XP – even earlier, on April 8, 2014. Meanwhile, they continue to be used by millions of people around the world. On average, every tenth computer is equipped with an outdated “Seven”. In this article, we will explain the risks for those who are still on Windows 7 or XP and why they need to upgrade to more modern operating systems.

  • Outdated versions of Windows are poorly protected from virus attacks. Moreover, antivirus programs are being finalized for modern operating systems, so they may not recognize malware that is designed for Windows 7 or XP.
  • Some modern programs may not work or generate errors. Every month there are more and more such applications.
  • Many games only require Windows 10 and will not run on earlier operating systems. A prime example is the recent Hitman 3 .
  • There will be problems with the browser. Many modern sites are written for modern versions of Windows.
  • Some devices may not have drivers compatible with older operating systems. Accordingly, you will not be able to use a new printer or scanner.

In other words, Windows 7, XP and earlier operating systems can only be used offline with older applications. When you go online, you risk becoming a victim of cybercriminals.
