A quick breakdown of starter packs, tips and tricks for the game
Ring of Elysium is a new battle royale from developer Aurora Studio. The game is popular among Steam users as it is primarily free. In Ring of Elysium, there is no traditional disembarkation from an airplane: the player has the right to choose the place of arrival in advance, while seeing where his opponents will land.
It is worth warning that only two languages are available in the game – English and Chinese. Therefore, if you decide to start playing Ring of Elysium, you will have to learn a few foreign phrases to communicate in voice chat. Although, it is for this that the “marker system” function has been added to the game. It will be especially useful if you spot the enemy and cannot notify the team in the voice chat. But more on that later.
At the moment, only one map is available in the game, but already now you can observe a dynamic change of weather on it (the same function in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds appeared relatively recently, on the Sanhok map), many different buildings and vehicles. The main difference from the traditional battle royale is the choice of the starting “Pak”. There are only three such packs, for a start we will understand them in more detail.
Starter packs
Many users confuse starter packs with “classes”, as in the latest popular battle royale – Apex Legends . The difference is actually significant: if in Apex Legends the player chooses between characters (Legends) who are endowed with unique abilities, then in Ring of Elysium the player just chooses a pack that gives him an advantage in some way.
Glider Pack
Not a very popular pack among players, mainly due to the fact that it does not provide an advantage in movement. As our observations have shown, a player with a hang glider will become an excellent sniper, as he has the ability to quickly change position when he is on any hill: whether it is the roof of a high-rise building, a lighthouse, or a mountain peak. Of course, the same trick can be done on a bicycle, but it will not always be successful.
By the way, while in flight, you do not have to worry about the trees encountered, they will not affect the flight path in any way. The starter pack includes one bandage and a Glock 17 pistol with 15 rounds of 9×19 mm.
BMX Pack (Bicycle)
Cyclists do not need to search for transportation to get to the safe area in time. At any time, they can use a BMX bike, and shorten the required distance. Moreover, there is no time limit for use or cooldown between uses. Such a fighter is armed with a .45 ACP pistol, a dozen rounds and a bandage.
Grappling Hook Pack (Cat)
A fighter with a “cat” at his disposal becomes a much more difficult target than others. He can grab onto literally anything: be it a bushes, a tree, or the roof of a building. After that, the character will almost instantly cover the distance to the final goal. But there are also some disadvantages here: it will take a few seconds to unhook. The enemy can use this time to shoot the soldier, if, of course, he notices the trajectory of his movement. The starter pack includes a double-barreled shotgun, cartridges and a bandage.
Hazardous areas and evacuation
As with any battle royale, a few minutes after the start of the match, most of the sectors of the map turn blue. At this moment, the countdown will begin, for which you must manage to get to the safe zone. Otherwise, being in such a zone after the timer expires, the character will gradually take damage. Prolonged stay in the danger zone will inevitably lead to death.
Unlike other similar projects, Ring of Elysium can win from one to four people or teams. To win, you need to get on time to the helicopter, which will arrive a few minutes before the activation of the last danger zone. If you play as a squad or in a pair, and at least one fighter got into the helicopter, then all team members (even those who died) are considered the winners.
Pick only the essentials
All characters have the same amount of free space in the inventory, try not to litter it with unnecessary items, which are mainly cartridges and modules for weapons. The cartridges can be split by pressing the Ctrl key .
The starting armament can be replaced with any other: for example, get rid of the pistol and take a rapid-fire submachine gun instead. Be sure to equip a bulletproof vest and a helmet, as this significantly reduces the incoming damage to your character. Also, some smoke grenades will come in handy at the end of the match. Usually they are used to hide the evacuation zone from the eyes of opponents and get safely into the helicopter.
Use transport
If BMX Pack holders can do without transport, then other players will most likely have to use it to get to the safe zone. This is especially true if you are at a sufficiently large distance from it. It should be remembered that the vehicle creates a lot of noise, thereby attracting the attention of opponents. At the moment, the game has several types of cars and boats.
Use markers
It is not at all necessary to use voice chat to warn of approaching enemies, or indicate their location. As we said earlier, the game has the ability to quickly mark any place on the map (within the character’s line of sight). Such a marker will be displayed for all members of the squad not only on the map, but also on the surface itself. To do this, press the Q key by default.
Automatic installation of modules
This feature greatly simplifies the game as you don’t have to navigate dozens of modules. Just pick up a module, and if it fits your weapon, it will automatically be installed on it. In addition, if you decide to replace the machine gun with a similar one, you will pick up a new weapon with previously existing modules.
Multiple scopes
Another useful feature that shouldn’t be ignored. You can install two modules at once on any weapon, for example, a holographic sight and x4 optics. To switch from one to the other, simply press the V key by default.
Other Tips
- Hold Ctrlwhile moving to reduce footstep noise.
- After falling from a height, the character will lose a certain amount of health. If you are using a bike, you can slightly increase the fall range without taking damage.
- Smoke grenades will be very useful to confuse the enemies around you. The “hiss” of a smoke grenade perfectly disguises your steps, but cannot mask the sounds of a cat or bicycle being used.
- When playing as a team, try to keep your distance from allies. You shouldn’t go too far in order to be in time to come to the rescue.
- You can reload weapons and pick up items at the same time.
- During treatment, you can move, albeit slowly.
- Silenced weapons shoot so quietly that you can be ten meters away from the enemy, and he will not immediately determine your location.
- Replace the standard healing keys 7, 8 and 9 with more accessible ones (preferably on the mouse). Thus, to use the first aid kit or bandage, you do not have to pull your left index finger across the entire keyboard.
