We talk in detail about the new shooter Valorant: we explain the rules of the game and give useful tips for beginners
Valorant is a new tactical first-person shooter in the spirit of CS: GO , but with elements of Overwatch : unlike the beloved by many “Contra”, in Valorant all operators differ from each other in abilities. Now the project is in closed beta testing, but we managed to get acquainted with it and prepared basic tips for the game.
Rules of the game

In fact, the rules in Valorant are very simple: you need to plant a bomb (in the game this item is called Spike) and wait a while before it explodes. The team of defenders at this time must not allow an explosion by any means. If Spike is not installed yet, but one of the teams loses all players, then the opposing team automatically becomes the winner. The score is kept up to thirteen rounds: whoever wins 13 times wins.
Each match is played by two teams of five players. Before the start of the battle, you can choose one of the agents available to you, which has three unique abilities and one ultimate skill. Players cannot select two identical agents in the same match! Deceased soldiers can be returned to the ranks only when a separate agent uses the ultimate skill. In any other case, reviving is prohibited until the start of the next round.
Before each round, fighters receive a certain amount of game currency – “Credits”. The better you prove yourself in the current round, the more credits you will receive before starting the next. For “credits” in the game store you can buy weapons, armor, and additional unique skills for each class. Up to 45 seconds are allotted for the “Procurement Phase”.
Advice
Don’t forget the shield
This piece of equipment will not save you from a well-aimed head shot, but it significantly “adsorbs” incoming damage to the body (70% per hit). Do not put armor in the background: its presence will help you to survive and win for your team more than once. Therefore, we recommend once again to abandon expensive weapons and purchase a shield. This is especially true in the first round at the beginning of the match, and in a similar round after the change of sides, when all teammates have 800 credits each. There are currently two types of armor in the game: light shield (25 armor) and heavy shield (50 armor).
Team play
It should be remembered that Valorant is primarily a team tactical shooter, where interaction with team members will directly affect the outcome of the match. Therefore, you should not run ahead headlong: discuss tactics with your comrades and try in every possible way to cover the fighters of your team. If you have taken the initiative and you are doing well, the remaining teammates will definitely follow you.
Use Shift
As we said, Valorant is similar to CS: GO with some mechanics, including “quiet” walking while holding down the Shift key. If you want to hide and take the enemy by surprise, then hold down this button and slowly move towards the goal. The lack of walking sound will allow you to sneak up to the target and eliminate it.
Use a knife
After a hot firefight, you will most likely need to find cover. To get to any obstacle faster than the enemy enemy will shoot you, take a knife in your hand. Melee weapons allow you to move faster than when you run with your main weapon or pistol.
Strafe is not always good
In many first-person shooters, the user develops the habit of “strafe” – to move in different directions while shooting. This is understandable: being in motion on your character is more difficult to hit. But in Valorant, there is a downside to this tactical maneuver. The fact is that here, in motion, the spread of cartridges of automatic weapons (for example, machine guns or machine guns) increases significantly. Therefore, in order to quickly deal with the enemy, it is best to stop completely before shooting. In this case, the first few rounds are guaranteed to hit the target.
Don’t waste your ultimate
Each agent has a special skill that can be used after it is charged. To charge the ultimate, you just need to gain 7 skill points. For each enemy killed, you will receive +1 skill point. In addition, you can collect “Orbs” on the map, which will also add one skill point. Such spheres are located in neutral territories, so it will be difficult to capture them in most cases.
When the ultimate is ready, you should not immediately spend it, you need to choose the right moment depending on who you are playing. For example, agent Omen can teleport to any point on the map. His skill is best used at the very beginning of the round to be on the enemy spawn and catch opponents by surprise.
Not enough credits?
As we already noted, the game currency is credited at the end of the round, and the more enemies you have eliminated, the higher the reward will be. But it also happens that the game “does not go”: for several rounds in a row you cannot kill anyone, and there are not enough credits even for the cheapest submachine gun in conjunction with a light shield. Don’t get discouraged, as you can ask your teammates for any weapon. To do this, open the store during the shopping phase and right-click on the required weapon. The whole team will see your request and someone will definitely respond!
Unblock new agents
There are 10 agents available in Valorant, five of which will be blocked at the very beginning of their careers. To unlock all agents, you just need to play: after each battle you will receive experience, which will allow you to unlock one or another agent.
You can speed up the process of unlocking fighters by completing daily tasks. Every day you can complete two quests, the conditions of which are available on the main screen after starting the game. For completing tasks, you will receive a fixed amount of experience, which will pump your level faster and allow you to unlock new agents. Basically, such quests are related to game moments: several times to install or neutralize Spike, kill a certain number of enemies, use the ultimate a certain number of times, and so on. Every 24 hours, the agent’s tasks are updated, so do not delay completing them!
