A digital frame in the form of an iPad: preliminary considerations
First of all, let’s review the status of the iPad and consider some measures that may need to be taken. The idea of a digital photo frame is that it shows images constantly, or at least in times when we feel like it and / or we have guests at home. That will translate into consuming a battery that may be damaged due to its own age .
So let’s always have a charging cable and adapter for that iPad on hand. We can save battery by activating the airplane mode and making the iPad show photos stored locally (although that already implies extra work to send them to that device), or if the battery lasts too little we can resort to having the tablet permanently plugged in.
Another tip to say is that we should update the iPad to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS possible . This will guarantee us maximum compatibility with the iCloud cloud or with other online services that we want to use to transfer photos to the device. For the use that we are going to give it, here the backup is no longer necessary and we can even the iPad if we see it necessary.

That said, now we can only make the iPad screen display photos permanently. iPadOS allows us to do it from photo albums and slide shows . We only need to place the photos from the photo library in an album. You have the option in the lower area of the sidebar of the Photos application:
After giving the album a name, the iPad itself will offer us a window in which we will select the photographs to add to it:
With the album already created and showing on the screen, the next step is to click on the button with the ellipsis in the upper right corner of the interface and select ‘Slide show’ from the menu that appears:
Our slideshow will start, and if we press the ‘Options’ button in the lower right corner we can control its settings. For use as a photo frame, I would recommend deactivating the background music, lengthening the time it takes for each photograph to give way to the next one and of course activating the repetition so that it is played in a loop:
And voila, we already have our own digital photo frame taking advantage of an iPad that we had abandoned in a drawer. Now we just have to leave it where we want and enjoy the photo pass.
