Monster Hunter Rise is the latest entry in Capcom’s popular monster hunting action series, bringing back beloved feline companions that you can take with you into battle. The game also includes palamutes, dog-like creatures that will help you move faster. You can only create one Palico and one Palamute at first, but you can get more. As mentioned above, at the beginning of the game you can create your own Palico and Palamute. They will be your main friends and you can only take them with you in multiplayer hunts. However, you can change them during solo hunts, either in a village or in a central mission.

To do this, you need to access Buddy Plaza, which is unlocked once you’ve completed the first handful of village quests. The Plaza is in front of the forge and the merchant in the steel mill area.
Head over and find the Buddy Scout on the right side of the entrance. From there, you can set your preferences for Palicos and Palamutes, from your average type to skin design, and then have potential Scout research recruits.
Depending on the level of the friends, hiring them will cost you different amounts of zenny. Just choose the rental option when you speak to the Boy Scout and choose which one you want to hire.
You can now switch friends at any time by interacting with a Buddy Post, which can be found throughout the center.
You can also send your additional friends on an expedition to the Meowcenaries or Argosy, or send them to the Buddy Plaza Dojo so they can progress faster even if you don’t take them hunting with you.
