StreamElements is a popular OBS plugin that takes care of alerts, images, videos, overlays and other resources. This reduces your CPU usage by processing all assets in the cloud, which instead allows you to allocate more processing power to your thread.
Sometimes there are problems when using StreamEements, for example, the alert window does not work. The notification window notifies you and viewers of new subscribers, subscriptions or gifted subscriptions, and even donations. If this doesn’t work properly, you may be missing out on a chance to thank your community.
Of course you don’t want this to happen to you. If you are having problems, then you are on the right track. We are here to help you fix the StreamElements warning window not working.
How to Fix StreamElements Alert Window Not Working
- Open the StreamElements toolbar in your browser and make sure you are connected to your streaming channel.
- Make sure the StreamElements bot is on your channel. You can verify this here. If it says Part Channel, then you’re done. If not, click “Join Channel”, then click the wrench icon.
- On the left side of the screen, click My Overlays under Streaming Tools.
- Select the alert box and click Edit.
- Click on the “Actual Warning” field. At the moment it looks empty.
- The warning window settings menu will appear on the left side of the screen.
- Click on the settings menu and the various alerts you have will appear.
- If your subscriber alert is not working, click the gear icon in the subscriber alert.
- In the Notification to Subscribers section, click Variant Settings.
- Check if all subscriber notification options are checked or not.
- If your advice alerts are not working. Click on tip alert settings.
- Check if there is a minimum tip amount. Leave the field blank if you want to receive all tip notifications.
- Repeat the steps for other alert windows such as Hosts, Cheers, and Raids. Check if an option is selected or if a minimum amount for alerts is set.
- Now go to the position, size and style settings.
- Set the height and width to 1920 x 1080.
- Click Save and click Copy Overlay URL.
- Open OBS or StreamElementsSE Live.
- Click on the plus sign in the Sources section.
- Click Browser.
- Name the new alert whatever you want. For now, we will place test alerts and then click OK.
- Paste the URL of the StreamElements alerts into the URL section of the overlay. Then change the Width and Height to 1920 x 1080. Click OK when everything is set.
- Click on the preview screen and a red box will appear. This is your notification box.
- Check the alert window by returning to the StreamElements toolbar. Return to the Alert Box editing screen.
- Click “Emulate” with the bell icon located at the bottom center of the screen.
- Select any alert you want to emulate. For this example, we’ll choose a gifted subscription.
- Switch back to OBS or StreamElements Live and the alert box should be working.
- You can then resize the alert box by dragging the corners.
- If you want to change the position of the notification window, simply drag it across the screen to the desired position. This time I placed it in the top middle of the screen, just below the graphic overlay.
- That’s it for fixing the StreamElements alert window.
How to fix StreamElements Alertbox with sound but no image
There are times when you hear a StreamElements alert but no image appears. Here is a quick solution for this.
- Open OBS or StreamElements Live.
- Check the Sources window and make sure Alerts is on top of everything open. In the example below, the alert window is at the bottom, so the notification with the alert image is overlaid by the game, camera, and OBS overlay.
- If your alert box is at the bottom, drag it to the top. You can also use the arrows to move the source up or down. In this example, it is now above the Game Overlay source.
- Test the alerts by going to the StreamElements dashboard. Click My Overlays, then click Edit on the alert window.
- Click Emulate, then choose which alert you want to test. In this example, we’ll click Donate.
- Switch back to OBS or StreamElements Live and the image should now appear next to the alert sound.
- If this method doesn’t work. Return to OBS or StreamElements Live.
- Click “Settings” on the right side of the screen.
- Go to Advanced Settings.
- Scroll down and you will see the sources settings.
- There will be a checkbox “Enable browser hardware acceleration”. Make sure it’s unchecked. If it is checked, uncheck it and a notification will appear telling you that you need to restart OBS for the changes to take effect.
- Click Apply, then click OK.
- Restart the OBS.
- Test alerts by following the instructions above. Your alerts should already be working.
- If the two methods don’t work, feel free to join the StreamElements Discord server here. The guys there are very helpful. Just go to a specific text channel and let them know about your concerns.
