How to block a contact in Gmail

Don’t want to see emails from a certain user? Then you will have to block the contact in Gmail so that they no longer bother you through a simple option that you can quickly enable in the mail provider itself.

This option will allow you not to see incoming emails , regardless of whether it is from a person or company. Either because you are not interested or for any other circumstance, the possibility of blocking a contact is very effective.

However, you should know that what this possibility really does is move the email directly to the spam folder so that it is automatically deleted after a while, that is, you will continue to receive emails, but you will not see them in your main inbox.

Block contact on PC

Through your PC you can block the Gmail contact easily, just follow these steps:

  • Open your Gmail email and go to any email you have received from the contact you want to block.
  • Inside it, go to the right side where the date you received the email is and you will see an icon with three horizontal dots. Click there and select the option “block x person” .
  • Finally, confirm that you want to carry out this action by clicking on the blue “block” button . From that moment, the emails sent to you by that person or company address will be directly marked as spam and will be sent there in order to be deleted after a while.

Block contact on iOS and Android

You can also block any contact through your iOS and Android phone through the Gmail app. If you have an iPhone, the steps to follow are these:

  • Open Gmail, access an email and click on the icon with three horizontal dots that you will see to the right of the name of the contact who sends you the email.
  • Click on ” block X person ” and you’re done.

In Android, the procedure is the same , so you will not have any problem doing it, you just have to enter the specific email of the person you want to block and select the option that we discussed earlier, so the emails will always reach spam.

You should know that this option is reversible , that is, if at any time you want to unblock a contact that you had previously blocked, you can do so by following the same procedure. This can be done as many times as you want.

As you can see, what blocking contacts in Gmail actually does is redirect received emails directly to the spam folder, which after 30 days from their arrival date, will be automatically deleted without the possibility of recovering them.
