How to activate the Dead Eye scope in Dead Redemption

The “Red Dead Redemption” video game features three different levels of “Dead Eye” sights, which you can unlock by playing through the story missions. The “Dead Eye” scope allows you to go in slow motion to give yourself more time to carefully aim at your targets before they have a chance to kill you. The benefits of the “Dead Eye” scope increase as you increase your skill level. By the third and final level you will be able to mark exactly where you would like to shoot multiple targets at the same time.

Talk to Bonnie MacFarlane at the MacFarlane Ranch. This will be indicated on the map with a “B” icon. Bonnie will give you the mission “New Friends, Old Problems” (“New Friends, Old Problems”). Join Bonnie on a tour of the Ranch.

Tie your horse to a post. This is a tutorial level, so instructions on how to do this will be displayed on the screen. Bonnie will give you the task of killing some rabbits, therefore shoot some of them to make the rest go away. Follow Bonnie to the corral and the first level of sight system “Dead Eye” will be unlocked.

Click the right analog control down to activate the “Dead Eye” sight. This will also open the “Dead Eye” meter, which shows how much time you have left in this mode. Everything will slow down to slow motion speed. Aim at the target’s reticle with the left controller, then fire at your target by pressing the “R2” button on the PlayStation 3 and the “right” trigger on the Xbox 360.

Play through the game until you complete the mission “You Shall Not Give False Testimony, Except for Profit”. This will unlock the second level of sight “Dead Eye”. At this level the right analog controller is still pressed down to enter “Dead Eye” mode. Move the crosshairs over an enemy and several red “Xs” will appear on them. Press the “R2” button for the PlayStation 3 to shoot all the red “Xs” and press the “Right” trigger for the Xbox 360.

Start the mission called “The Gunslinger’s Tragedy” to unlock the third and final level of the “Dead Eye” scope. Press on the right analog controller to enter the “Dead Eye” scope, then press the “R1” button on the PlayStation 3 or the “Right” button on the Xbox 360 to mark a red “X” wherever you want on the objective. Press the “R2” button for the PlayStation 3 or the “Right” trigger on the Xbox 360 to exit “Dead Eye” sight mode and it will fire on all your targets.
