Synopsis
Centuries before the events recounted in “A Song of Ice and Fire” took place, House Targaryen, the only dynasty of dragon lords to survive the Curse of Valyria, settled on the island of Dragonstone.
Here we have the first of the two volumes in which the author of Game of Thrones tells us, in great detail, the story of such a fascinating family: starting with Aegon I Targaryen, creator of the iconic Iron Throne, and followed by the rest of the generations of Targaryens who fought fiercely to retain power, and the throne, until the arrival of the civil war that almost ended them.
What really happened during the Dance of Dragons? Why was it so dangerous to approach Valyria after the Curse? What was Westeros like when dragons ruled the skies? These, and many others, are the questions answered by this monumental chronicle, narrated by a master cult of the Citadel, which anticipates the already known universe of George RR Martin.
Fuego y Sangre will give readers the opportunity to have another insight into the fascinating history of Westeros. Superbly illustrated with 85 unpublished prints by Doug Wheatley, this work will undoubtedly become a must read for all fans of the acclaimed series.
About the book
It will be published in two volumes. The first of them covers the history of Westeros from the Landing of Aegon to the regency of Aegon III, and was published on November 20 , 2018 at the international level. It will include 75 black and white images by artist Doug Wheatley.
The second volume will span from the reign of Aegon III to Robert’s Rebellion, and its publication date is unknown. By July 2017 , most of the text in the second volume was unwritten.
Initially, it was planned to be published in a single volume, the publication of which was expected after the end of the Song of Ice and Fire saga. [4] However, due to its length, it was decided to publish it in two volumes.
Before being called Fire and Blood, the story was humorously referred to as the GRRMarillion, in reference to JRR Tolkien’s The Silmarillion.
