A selection of console commands for Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition
Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is a 4K remaster of the original game with all previously released add-ons. The re-release includes four new civilizations: Bulgarians, Kumans, Lithuanians and Tatars, which are presented in a new single-player campaign. Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition also introduces a new advanced AI. If you are experiencing difficulties during battles against the computer, then use the codes.
How to use cheat codes in Age of Empires 2: Definition Edition
Once the map is loaded in the game, simply press the Enter key or click the chat icon in the upper right corner. This will bring up the text box. Enter one of the cheat codes and press Enter again. Cheat codes are not case sensitive, so all you have to do is write them correctly.

Map
- marco– reveal the whole map. The code works to turn the card on and off, so when you enter it again, the card will be hidden;
- polo– remove the fog of war. The code also works to toggle Fog of War on and off, so entering it again will restore Fog of War.
Units
- alpaca simulator– Create “Alfred the Alpaca” that looks like a llama. Very high armor and head attack damage. Strong melee unit, weak against speed and ranged attacks;
- furious the monkey boy– Create Furious the Monkey Boy. Easily destroys buildings, but slow and dies after a few hits;
- how do you turn this on– Create AC Cobra. Shoots in a circle, good ranged attacks, high health, armor and damage. Poor AI, bullets harm friendly units;
- i don’t exist– create a Penguin. High level of armor and damage;
- i love the monkey head– create VMDL (VMDL). Cannot attack, but gives an attack bonus to buildings;
- to smithereens– Spawn a Deals damage by committing suicide.
Resources
- cheese steak jimmy’s– increase food by 10000;
- lumberjack– increase wood by 10,000;
- robin hood– increase gold by 10,000;
- rock on– increase the stone by 10000;
- ninjaconnor / ninjalui / rowshep– Increase all resources by 10000.
Other codes
- ! mute– disable taunts;
- ! nomute– cancel the “! mute” command;
- aegis– Building, researching, gathering resources and training are instant for everyone, including the AI. You can disable it by re-entering the command;
- black death– kills all other civilizations except yours. Even your allies;
- ir winner– declare your civilization the winner;
- natural wonders– transfer control of the player’s civilization to nature, instead of losing control of the civilization. This is irreversible – there is no way to regain control of your civilization other than starting a new game;
- resign– lose the game;
- torpedo X– kill the specified civilization, where “X” is the civilization number from 1 to 8;
- wimpywimpywimpy– kill all your units, this has the same effect as the “resign” command;
- woof woof– turn birds into Stormy Dogs. They are flying dogs with red capes. The code does not make any changes in the gameplay.
