Garments which fit loosely have a layer of air between them and the skin. As air is a very bad conductor of
heat it follows that loose garments are warmer than tightly-fitting ones. For the same reason those of loose
texture, having quantities of air in the meshes, are warmer than those made of closely-woven material.
