How does Niantic treat cheaters? Developers take action against cheaters time and time again. So they keep reporting that they have banned thousands of cheaters. They had also won a lawsuit against a cheat vendor.
Still, cheating in Pokémon GO is relatively easy. When a player reports a cheat, Niantic generally doesn’t react at all.
Where are fair players at a disadvantage now due to cheating? There are few spots in Pokémon GO where players compete directly with each other. An example is the sands. If you want to take that, you have to kick other players from the other team out of the arena. This often creates real battles for arenas with cheats. This is how a fair player takes one arena and heads to the next. At the same time, the cheater has already taken the first arena again and jumps to the second arena in an instant.
There are repeated reports on various forums that spoofers are terrorizing entire cities. They just keep all the arenas in the city and if a player just takes one of them, it will be kicked out again a few minutes later.
Another player encounter is in PvP mode. You face other players from all over the world by chance. If you are unlucky as a fair player, you will come across a cheater who has fooled the perfect team and gives you no chance.
Especially with the introduction of level 50, the advantage of cheats has increased. Some good Pokémon from the PvP League are quite rare in Pokémon GO. If you level them to level 50 now, they are even stronger and would defeat the same monster at level 40. As a fair player, it is difficult to get Xl candy from rare monsters for you to get to level 50. As a cheater, you jump Pokémon in Pokémon and you get the necessary XL sweets very quickly. In the fight, the player who owns the monster at level 50 wins.
