Great Bannerlord Workshop Guide

Here is great Bannerlord Workshop Guide.Following the guide in which we talked about all the ways to make money in Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord , we hasten to share a guide that describes in detail the use of workshops. In it, you will learn how to set up workshops, provide them with resources, and also make sure that they will generate a good income.

How to buy a workshop/Bannerlord Workshop Guide

To get your workshop in Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord , you will have to acquire some dinars and consumables. Large capital investments will soon return as passive profit, with which you can buy equipment for your army and pay for their hire. Most cities have at least two workshops. The easiest way to get one of them (at least in Early Access) is to choose a walk around the city (for example, Lycaron) and move through it while holding down the ALT key. In this case, markers will be visible on the screen, pointing to different characters and important objects. You can also find workshops using them.

The average cost of any workshop is about 15,000 dinars. Sometimes this amount can be 2-3 thousand higher or lower. The specific type of workshop is selected randomly every time you start the game, while at the same time, the resources of the villages closest to the city remain of the same type.

After the purchase, it will take several in-game days before the workshop becomes operational and starts making a profit. And already in the first days you will be able to understand how effective its production will be. There are a variety of factors to consider. For example, your workshop is unlikely to be profitable if nearby villages do not supply the resources to run it. That is, it is useless to keep a forge if iron ore does not come from the villages.

How to provide the workshop with materials and consumables/Bannerlord Workshop Guide

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord’s economy is alive, so the cost of any product in each region depends on supply and demand. And here the principle described above comes to the fore: for a workshop to work in a particular city, there must be villages next to it that produce the resources needed by this workshop.

Below is a list of all the available workshops, the resources they consume, and the goods they produce:

  • Wood Workshop – Wood – Bows and Shields
  • Brewery – Grain – Beer
  • Iron Workshop (Forge) – Iron Ore – Melee Tools and Weapons
  • Pottery shop – Clay – Pottery
  • Spinning mill – Sheep (wool) – Clothes
  • Tannery – Hides – Shoes, Gloves, Light Armor
  • Olive press – Olives – Olive oil
  • Silver Workshop – Silver – Jewelry
  • Linen Workshop – Linen – Linen Cloth
  • Wine Press – Grapes – Wine
  • Workshop on velvet (velveteen) – Corduroy – Cotton

How to increase workshop profits

To get the most out of your workshops, you can even do additional analysis. Check which goods are in greatest demand in the city (red price). Thus, if you can produce them, then the workshop will make a lot of money. But in this case, you will have to repurpose the workshop and make sure that the villages can supply the necessary resources.

You can artificially increase the amount of required resources in the city. If your village, for example, does not supply iron, go to other places, buy iron and sell it in the city. And as much as possible. After this happens, you need to wait a few days for the workshop to start using the necessary resources. Very soon, instead of 30-50 dinars, your workshop will start bringing in 100-150 dinars a day. But, unfortunately, this process can take a long time, so it is much more profitable to make sure that the workshops are provided with villages and caravans.

How to change the type of workshop and why you need it/Bannerlord Workshop Guide

The easiest way to understand what exactly the villagers are delivering to a particular city is to stay in it for a few days and take a look at what they are bringing there. For example, in one of the carts moving to Lycaron, I discovered clay. There was a lot of it (30 units is usually a significant indicator). Then, looking at prices in the city, I discovered the following pattern: while clay is trading at 20-25 dinars, pottery here costs about 200 dinars.

It is also important to emphasize that people who come with goods to cities do not necessarily live in the nearest villages. For example, the villagers from Morenia, whose settlement is associated with the castle of the same name, appeared in Lycaron. Castles are not shopping malls! Moreover, these rednecks or arriving caravans may even belong to other factions.

Now that it became clear that there is a lot of clay from the villages in Lycaron, it is time to redesign the brewery (in our case) into a pottery workshop. And if you have carried out the correct analysis, then you can be sure: after a couple of days you will feel a significant change in the work of the workshop and begin to receive passive income. There will be no need to study half a map in order to find resources for the workshop, which was in the city by default.

Another way to find out what resources are being supplied to the city is to explore the neighboring villages. For example, if you see a couple of villages exporting grain, then it’s time to think about buying a workshop in the nearest town with its subsequent conversion into a brewery. This will almost instantly increase the profitability of the workshop (of course, if it was not provided with enough resources by default; in this case, nothing needs to be changed).

General recommendations

Over time, your workshops will get stronger and more profitable. This will increase the value of the enterprises themselves. Remember, if the faction that runs the city with your workshops becomes hostile to you, then you will lose all your business. Therefore, in some cases, it will be profitable to sell workshops before starting a war or entering into an already existing conflict, defecting to one of the parties. And then buy workshops elsewhere by doing the research described above.

The game limits the number of workshops available depending on the current clan level. This sets a limit that blocks instant business growth. That is, the game will not allow you to take on a swoop and buy several dozen workshops, providing yourself with a completely carefree life. But towards the later stages of the game, your business can grow significantly.

The supply of raw materials to any workshops can be interrupted by a sudden siege or raids by robbers. If the marauder hideout is too close to the villages, it will be advisable to raid it. Or deal with several squads of bandits that roam nearby. If the work of the workshop is interrupted, it will take some time before it can return to the original profit.

Remember that creating duplicate workshops (two identical workshops in the same city or near the same villages) will reduce their efficiency. This will lead either to an increase in the cost of raw materials, which will be associated with its shortage, or to a fall in market prices for manufactured goods. Or both. Therefore, if you decide to buy two workshops in the same city, make sure they are of a different type.

Try to look for the most prosperous cities with the largest population. In such cities, the demand and prices for goods will only grow. Also, pay attention to their economies. You won’t be able to see the exact numbers until you become the owner of the city, but you can look at the number of beggars and people in torn clothes.

Any city in the game can have anywhere from two to eight villages, so it’s important to take each of them into account. Keep track of what resources are produced there. They will also be delivered to the city itself. Moreover, if workshops in cities are generated randomly (their type), then the resources produced in villages remain the same type from game to game. Hover your mouse over any village and you will see a pop-up window with information about the resources that are produced in it.

In the case of locks, things are a little more complicated. The villages located next to them send their resources not to the castle, but to the nearest city. And if you want to understand what exactly and where they are taking, wait a moment and follow the wagon.

You cannot directly supply workshops with resources. They take raw materials from the market in their city, and they do it every day. Therefore, if you want to increase the amount of raw materials, you will have to buy it yourself anywhere, and then sell it in the desired city.

Monopoly creation trick

There is one very interesting trick. First, find a workshop in the city, which is provided with all the necessary resources for its operation. Buy a workshop, then use the encyclopedia to find any other workshops of the same type, redeem them, change the type and sell them. The AI does not seem to be able to change the type of its workshops, so this ensures that you remain the only entrepreneur producing, for example, grapes or beer. It will take time, but in the future, all the goods you produce in other cities will remain in short supply. And you can make good money if you go there with a squad full of this product
