Baldur’s Gate 3: Unfinished Workshop Quest

We tell you how to complete the quest “Unfinished masterwork” and forge a rare two-handed sword, sickle or dagger.

Quest “Unfinished masterwork”

Looking into the basement of the building to the right of the entrance to the Extinct Village, you will find a locked chest with blueprints from High Cliff. This will start the quest “Unfinished Workshop”.

You can get into the basement in two ways: by breaking open the dilapidated wooden doors or by burning down the cobweb that closes the hole in the floor of the first floor.

How do I get to the Underdark?

The blueprints state that a rare ingredient will be needed to craft a weapon – Sussur Bark. The Susur tree grows in the Underdark. A little later, you will travel to this area in the story.

In fact, you can get there in four ways:

  • Through the Defiled Temple at the Goblin Camp. Talk to the priestess Gut and agree to her help. She will take you to a secluded place where you can kill her without raising the alarm. Take from the body the key to the door, which is in the same room.
Inside, you will have to defeat Polma (the priestess’s bodyguard) and solve the riddle with the moon in order to open a passage in the back of the hall. The finished solution is shown in the screenshot below.

  • Through the Whispering Abyss , standing on a cobweb bridge over a purple chasm and setting it on fire (before that, do not forget to cast the Smooth Fall spell on everyone in the group).
  • Through the Overgrown Tunnel under Aunt Ethel’s Tea House . Put on the Whispering Mask (located on the table near the Crooked Door) to go through the hidden door to the teleporter. The entrance is in an area with traps after the waterfall, the exact location is marked on the map below.
  • Through the Zentarim Hideout at Waukeen Refuge. You will open this location if, during the Lost on the Road quest, you help the thieves to cope with the gnolls and will not claim their cargo. In the shelter, you need to steal the Mechanical Key from the character named Karad.
Not far from it there is a fake wall (see map below), and behind it is a lift. Before going through the wall, put the entire group in stealth mode. Behind the wall, you must first unlock the winch, and only then use the hoist.

Where can I find the bark of susur?

In the Underdark, you need to find the Susur tree. We used the passage through the Defiled Temple at Goblin Camp. The path from this entrance can be seen on the map below.

To collect the bark, you need to defeat four Hooky Horrors and climb the branches to the tree itself. The second screenshot below shows what the bark looks like. Do not confuse it with a flower, this is different.

How to make a weapon?

Now return to the basement in the Extinct Village. Light the Smelter and turn on the heat with bellows. Throw the bark into the oven to make the flame turn blue. You can now craft a rare two-handed sword, dagger or sickle from regular ones.

With the search for a two-handed sword and dagger, you will not have any problems. They can be picked up in the same basement. But if you want a sickle, you have to run a little. Sickles from Little Red Caps are not suitable. We need the simplest one, with 1d4 damage. Fortunately, one of these is lying on the ground near the Sacred Pool in the Grove of Silvanus.

The screenshots below show the characteristics of all three types of weapons that you can forge. While they do not look very interesting, perhaps later the developers will replace them with something.
