9 Ways to Give Good and Effective Presentations

Got an assignment to give a presentation at school or college? Or the opportunity to give a product presentation to a prospect or client? Take advantage of the opportunity to present a presentation not only as a “presentation”, but also to impress the audience and always remember our presentation!

Or is there someone who is still awkward or unusual to give a presentation? Take it easy. This article explores 9 ways how to prepare a presentation not only technically, but also mentally. Before starting, make sure you provide a checklist (tick) if you have done so. If not, then do it immediately. The more ticks you have, the greater the chance to produce a good presentation. Let’s begin! Here We Go !!

  1. Master and Understand the Material Well
This is an absolute requirement to be able to deliver a good presentation: master the material! One of them can be seen from how often we see the notes, cheat sheets,or slides. The more we do not master the material, the more it will make us rely on “cheat sheet” which ultimately the audience will feel bored and do not understand the material well. One of the things that can be done is to read over and over and then simulate a question and answer session related to the material to be delivered. The more questions that can be answered, the better the mastery of the material.
  2. Simulating the Presentation Is this
presentation delivered individually or in groups? Both require simulation! Try it 2 or 3 days before the presentation, simulate the presentation that will be delivered. This is very useful for timing the presentation as well as practicing giving the presentation to get used to it. If in a group, this simulation is useful for adjusting the transition of the material carrier change and also measuring each person’s time.
  3. Watch the Slide !!
In making presentation slides, make sure you don’tcopy and pastepapers or material from the internet completely. A good slide contains only key words, which the presenter then explains in an interesting way. Emphasize key words, they can be enlarged, given a different color, or underlined. Userelevant and interestingpictures, charts, orcharts. Make sure thefontsize isat least 20 – 22. If all the content of the paper or document is included in slides, just tell the audience to read the slides and you don’t have to give a presentation.
  4. Creating a “Different” Concept
What usually comes in a standard presentation? The presenter explains the contents of the powerpoint slides using the LCD, right? So, try to make a different concept. I often or have provided additional drama simulations, games, quizzes, and making animation or videos related to the material so that the audience can more easily capture the material. Therefore, my group and I often get compliments for presenting ‘different’ presentations.
  5. Make Slide Data Backups It’s
not funny if your H-1 presentation on your computer gets infected with a virus and all your data is lost and you don’t make a presentation! Therefore, copy your presentation material on a flashdisk, or save it in your e-mail address. So if at any time you lose your presentation slide data, you can retrieve it online.
  6. Pay attention to body movements and expressions
Be an attractive and expressive presenter. Don’t just read aloud the text on your slide. Bring out interesting expressions and movements that can attract the attention of the audience. Don’t just be like a statue. To prepare for it, you can practice in front of the mirror to see how your expression and body language will look when giving a presentation. Remember to smile and pass on positive energy.
  7. Pay Attention to Eye Contact
Now, pay attention to who you are giving your presentation to. Maintain eye contact with the audience. If it involves lecturers / teachers and also friends, then look at them alternately. If you really feel nervous, you can look at the forehead of your friend or teacher. To practice before the presentation, you can ask your friend to be a listener and maintain eye contact when giving the presentation to him.
  8. Making Positive Visualizations
All materials, slides, and technical preparations are okay. It’s time to build a positive mental. Many people get scared or nervous during a presentation because they think ‘what if my presentation is bad?’, ‘What if I get laughed at later?’. Yet we can choose to think otherwise. Why don’t we think, ‘what if tomorrow our presentation is successful?’, Imagine the excitement and chuckles of the audience because of the nature of your presentation. This is what I like to call, “Successful presentation with the power of the mind.”
  9. Know the Place, Equipment, and Audience
Sometimes as professionals, we are asked to give presentations, seminars, or training to people we do not know and in places we have never been to. If this is the case, then try to do a survey of who the audience is (it could begender, age, or educational background), how many there are, and what the place is like. Hopefully, if you can survey the place directly. Make sure there is also an LCD facility for displaying presentation slides and a sound system ( if needed) so that you are better prepared,

Those are 9 tips on how to give an “out of the box” presentation. Check it when you have done it. If not, please do so so that you can be better prepared to give an interesting and riveting presentation. Great greetings and success to you! I usually do this during presentation, and it really supports my productivity at work.
