Zucchini: diuretic and digestive

Zucchini is a vegetable very rich in water, a source of fiber and protein and, although to a lesser extent, it provides the body with vitamins B and C. Its content in mineral salts such as  calcium , potassium and phosphorus is, however, low.

Fiber has a preventive effect against colon cancer , breast cancer and cardiovascular disease . In turn, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects the body against different types of tumors, such as lung cancer , and strengthens its immune system. Its deficiency can trigger the development of anemiaand the appearance of a practically disappeared disease today such as scurvy . An excess or lack of vitamins is harmful to the body, therefore the recommended daily amount of this antioxidant is 75 and 90 milligrams for women and men, respectively.

It is digestive and favors the elimination of liquids and toxins . In addition, its low caloric content makes it highly suitable for weight loss regimes since it only provides around 15 calories for every 100 grams ingested . It must be consumed soon since from the third day it gradually loses its nutrients.

Vegetables stand out for their content of mineral salts, fiber and vitamins. For this reason, the Spanish Community Nutrition Society (SENC) recommends consuming between two and three daily servings daily, one of them raw, from this food group.
