Biographical Synthesis

He was born in Holguín , July 28 , 1947 , Cuba . He graduated in geophysics in the upper course of the Cuban Academy of Sciences and later became a researcher at the Institute of Geophysics and Astronomy. In 1978 he obtained the first mention in the David contest with the storybook “Adventure in the laboratory”, a fact that led UNEAC to summon in the following years a science-fiction award as a distinctive branch within the contest, thus marking the moment of a rebirth of Cuban science fiction.

Founder and president of the literary science fiction workshop ” Oscar Hurtado “, as well as advisor to the workshop “El Negro” (also science fiction). He created the science fiction short story contest for Juventud Técnica magazine and the annual “Dragon” short story prize.

He has been the promoter and organizer of the annual science fiction events and director of the i + Real group, which publishes a self-titled electronic newsletter dedicated to the genre, for free distribution.

With his wife and granddaughter

He has published short stories, poetry and articles of scientific dissemination (some of which have been awarded) in various Cuban and Latin American magazines. His poems have been translated into Russian and Hungarian.

In 1998 he was in charge of the selection and prologue of Polvo en el viento , an anthology of Cuban science fiction published in Argentina .
