When we dedicate ourselves to retrogame , often our only thought is to play the great classics. 10. Tobal No. 1
On the first PlayStation, we know, Tekken was the king of fighting games . Yet there are so many hidden gems that absolutely deserve a mention.
One of them is Tobal No.1 who, first of all, counts the presence of Akira Toriyama (father of Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball) at the character design.
Today, Tobal No.1 has become a small cult and, still today, represents one of the most important steps towards 3D fighting games.
9. Harmful Park
Run and Gun and scrolling shooters have always been my passion and, for this reason, Harmful Park could not be missing in the top ten of the best 50 unknown games for PlayStation .
Released only in Japan , this classic 2D shooter is a small treasure of the boundless PlayStation library (and easily over $ 500 on the collectible market).
8. Looney Tunes Racing
If in the world of fighting games the most popular game on PS1 was Tekken 3 , in that of kart racing there was Crash Team Racing . However – even in the midst of absurd ciofeche – there was no lack of quality products and one of these is precisely Looney Tunes Racing .
As usual, it is a Super Mario Kart clone , full of modes, different challenges and unlockable characters, all coming from the immense Warner universe .
7. Pong: The Next Level
We all know Pong , one of the first video games in history, produced by a historic company like Atari. Well, in the 90s, Atari produced some historical remakes on PlayStation, such as Centipede, Q * bert and, of course, Pong: The Next Level .
In particular, the latter took up the traditional dynamics of Pong , giving it a 3D aspect and placing the game in a series of new scenarios, enriching the game with power-ups of all kinds.
6. Overboard!
Overboard ! (known in North America as Shipwreckers !) is avery particular Psygnosis game, in which we find ourselves in command of a pirate ship , in a title that mixes elements of action and strategy.
A brilliant, fun and absolutely out of the box game , to have fun in both single and multiplayer.
5. Mr. Driller
In 1999 Namco released the first episode of the Mr. Driller franchise , a puzzle game that mixes elements of Columns and Dig Dug.
In the game all you have to do is move the protagonist, Mr. Driller (aka Susumu Hori, who is none other than the youngest son of Taizo Hori, the protagonist of the Dig Dug series ) , complete with a drill until the complete destruction of a set of colored blocks . As simple and intuitive as it is difficult and increasingly frustrating.
4. Vib Ribbon
In this top ten of unusual games we have met many and, among them, there is also Vib Ribbon . Music video game released in 1999, it will allow you to use Vibri, a stylized rabbit that will have to cross a continuous line and avoid obstacles to the rhythm of the music .
Among other things, it allows you to use music tracks taken from any Audio CD to generate difficulty levels depending on the rhythm, intensity and speed of the piece.
Minimalist and with a completely original concept , it has a decidedly high difficulty . And it is really strange that it ended up among the unknown games for PlayStation .
3. Hermie Hopperhead: Scrap Panic
Another type of games encountered in this long list is that of titles published only on the Japanese market, such as Hermie Hopperhead: Scrap Panic .
Game from 1995, it is a classic 2D scrolling platformer, which collects heavily from titles like Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World. Incredible that in the West it is totally unknown.
2. Everybody’s Golf 2
Everybody’s Golf 2 , known in America as Hot Shots Golf 2 is probably the best golf simulation of the first Playstation .
Filled with humorous , action and collectible elements , as well as a variety of modes to suit all tastes, it has decidedly colorful cartoon graphics , as well as a stunning soundtrack.
1. Team Buddies
