Oil can

Oilcan . Vessel with manual operation intended to grease various mechanisms with lubricating oil, depositing it in the appropriate place and in the desired quantity. It is also known as a cruet , a name that comes from the Hispanic Arabic alkúza , and this from the classical Arabic kūzah . Other variants are the table-top container for dosing edible oil, the oil pump used in vehicles and the oil can with a manual or motorized pump.

Applications

All mechanisms need their parts in contact with each other and with movement to be periodically lubricated. Lubrication can be with grease or with oil. The oilers are small, cylindrical containers made of metal or plastic.

Components

Deposit . Generally it is oval, cylindrical or frusto-conical, with a capacity of no more than half a liter .

Table oiler . The oilers equipped with a handle have this in an arrangement that is comfortable to hold with the hands and that facilitates emptying by gravity.

Tube . The discharge tube is usually tapered, elongated, and terminated in a bend, for easier access to the intricate locations of machinery.

Pressure mechanism . Some oilers are simply driven mechanism by finger thumb, which makes the effect of a pump, to give oil pressure and thereby facilitate its output.

Variants

Oiler with manual pump.

Oiler with manual pump . Usually it is a small tank that can be moved manually, which closes under pressure and has a small manual pump to pressurize the oil during the maintenance of the machinery. Oil flows out of a tube that can be directed with one hand while the other operates the oil pump.

Oiler with motorized pump . Equipment for supplying oil is used at maintenance stations and gas stations, which is essentially an oiler operated by means of a motorized pump and a liquid delivery tube.

Table oiler . It is a container similar to a cruet, but generally made of glass, which serves to dose the edible oil in the kitchen or on the dining table.

Oil pump . It is a mechanism possessed by vehicle engines and other machines, to pump under pressure the oil that lubricates its parts during its operation.
