Microsoft Surface Pro X: Technical Specifications
The characteristics of this convertible are essentially the same as the original version, with one important exception: this Surface Pro X debuts the SQ 2 CPU , a revision of the microprocessor built into the first model that, according to Microsoft, proposes a performance / watt ratio. higher, especially in multitasking usage scenarios. We will check it as soon as this equipment falls into our hands and we can test it thoroughly.
This Surface Pro X launches the SQ 2 CPU, a revision of the chip integrated in the first model that, according to Microsoft, offers us a higher performance / watt ratio
Its screen uses a 13-inch IPS PixelSense LCD panel with a 3: 2 aspect ratio, a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 dots and a density of 267 dots per inch. On the other hand, this equipment will be available with two main memory configurations: 8 and 16 GB LPDDR4x. So far, beyond the CPU, there are no changes compared to the original Surface Pro X.
In the graphical logic there are also changes, something understandable if we take into account that it is integrated into the CPU. This review leaves behind the Adreno 685 graphics of the SQ 1 processor to bet on the Adreno 690 graphics logic , which, in theory, should offer us a somewhat higher performance than its predecessor. A removable 128, 256 or 512 GB SSD is responsible for solving the secondary storage.

If we stick to wireless connectivity, this review does not introduce any changes compared to the first Surface Pro X. And it is that it also offers us WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and LTE connectivity (the integrated modem is the Snapdragon X24 LTE developed by Qualcomm). It is a pity that Microsoft did not take advantage of the tuning of this convertible to introduce the much more attractive WiFi 6 connectivity .

These are the news in this review
As we have seen, if we stick to the hardware, the only novelty that this review of Surface Pro X introduces is its SQ 2 CPU and the Adreno 690 integrated graphics logic. However, Microsoft has also deployed innovations that concern the software and the aesthetic section of this team. In this last area we are interested to know that this review of this convertible is available in a new silver color finish, in addition to the matte black finish in which the original Surface Pro X was already available .
This equipment reaches an autonomy of 15 hours in a typical use scenario, always according to Microsoft
In addition, Microsoft claims to have implemented improvements in the software in this review that, in combination with the innovations introduced in the SQ 2 chip, allow this team to achieve an autonomy of 15 hours in a typical use scenario, always according to Microsoft. If this autonomy is confirmed, this Surface Pro X would be ahead of the original model by two hours. One more note: the Redmond have confirmed that they have optimized more applications to get the most out of the ARM CPU of this team. Two of the tools that have benefited from these improvements are the Edge browser and Teams .
A few more brushstrokes about the heart of this machine: the SQ 2 CPU
As I mentioned a few lines above, the SQ 2 processor in this convertible is the result of collaboration between Microsoft and Qualcomm. In fact, the first model, the SQ 1, derives from the Snapdragon 8cx chip from the latter company. And the new SQ 2, in turn, takes the SQ 1 processor as its starting point. We do not yet have confirmed data about the photolithography and the TDP of the new chip, but it will probably keep the 7 nm and 7 watts of the SQ 1 model. One last note: the SQ 2 CPU incorporates the same eight cores as the SQ 1 chip.
Microsoft Surface Pro X: price and availability
Microsoft has confirmed that the new revision of its Surface Pro X will hit stores on October 27 with a starting price of 1,699 euros (the version with the SQ 2 CPU).
