MERITOCRACY, THE SECRET TO A LIFE FULL OF SATISFACTION

How many times, at work, have you given the best of yourself without receiving the right and expected gratitude from your boss? How many times did you think you deserved more for your commitment but the system did not allow it?

Here, this is what happens to a multitude of people, especially in the Italian context. You go to work, you give your all, you work extra hours and you don’t even get a ‘thank you’. All this generates a weakening of one’s ability. With the passage of time we become less willing to sacrifice, less creative, laziness and frustration increase. Collateral damage? It all extends beyond work. During your days you become more nervous and more listless in everything you do because you do not feel satisfied and satisfied.

But there is a solution : have you ever heard of the word meritocracy ?

Meritocracy is a system of evaluation and enhancement of the individual, focused on the recognition of merit. In other words, what you do is analyzed and measured and your work is rewarded, not only in economic terms.

Unfortunately, Italy appears to be the least meritocratic country in Europe . Matter of mentality? This cause could also be a factor. The average Italian perceives something unclear behind this word, up to the risk of a “rip off”. He thinks that doing a meritocratic job does not bring any security of a well-paid end of the month and consequently he feels cheated. On the one hand he would like to be grateful for what he does while on the other he prefers the security of a fixed remuneration. Fixed work.

So, meritocracy is often confused but the truth is there are pros and cons and if you really offer value and make a difference, the cons don’t exist.

One of the first advantages is that a meritocratic company guarantees equal opportunities to all its collaborators, full expression of the potential of each and recognition of individual and team merits.

Another big advantage is the ability to climb your career in no time, according to merit. The medals of recognition depend exclusively on you, and a serious and structured company accompanies you on the path of growth with training methods in the classroom and in the field.

Let’s talk about compensation. Not every month you will give your best, everyone has ups and downs. There is the month that falls within the norm, the one that does not satisfy you and the one where you have an explosion of results. What is certain is that there is no limit to the results and consequently to the possibility of reaching great profits. The freedom to earn without limits is the most incentive thing for ambition people who choose meritocratic companies.

Why does a company embrace the merit system? Because the return on production is very high. A study attests that a worker with a fixed salary contract and without any premium, over time, no longer finds the right stimuli and manages to produce 60% less than the average. The choice, therefore, is obvious: large companies with many collaborators know all this very well, and for this reason they choose merit-based systems to have motivated collaborators, greater production and a more competitive climate. They know very well that all this is possible by sharing a part of the results they never would have had in a classical system.

If there is no commitment and dedication, the results do not come and consequently all the beautiful advantages listed above. Meritocracy is a daily challenge with oneself, towards goals, together with one’s team, one must necessarily put the right desire into it and give a certain rhythm to things.
