The Bible only says that the mark of the beast will be a mark placed on each person’s hand or forehead , with the name or number of the beast. It does not say what form that mark will take. The mark of the beast will serve to identify the worshipers of the beast.
The prophecy of the beast, in the book of Revelation, tells of a very powerful person who will be worshiped as a god and who will persecute the followers of Jesus. Revelation 13: 16-17 speaks of a mark that everyone under the domain of the beast is bound to receive. This mark will be necessary to make commercial exchanges and will be required of all people, of all social classes.
We don’t know much about the mark of the beast, but the Bible gives us some key information:
- It will be placed on the forehead or the right hand
- It will be the name of the beast, or the number of its name – 666
- Nobody can buy or sell without it
- It will be a sign that the person loves the beast
Those who receive the mark of the beast will have the benefit of his protection, but in the end, they will be punished and cast with him into the lake of fire ( Revelation 14: 9-11 ). Only those who remain faithful to God will be saved.

The mark of the beast may have a physical shape , like a tattoo, a chip or something like that. It may have technology to carry out commercial transactions, or it may just be an identification mark of who is allowed to buy and sell.

- It will be a symbolic mark
As the language in the book of Revelation is very symbolic, full of metaphors, the mark of the beast may represent something else, like a spiritual mark . The mark may be a certain attitude of worshiping the beast, or an act of idolatry.

How can I protect myself from the mark of the beast?
No Christian wants to receive the mark of the beast, because he knows it is a sign of condemnation. Although the mark of the beast is not yet known, there is a simple way to protect yourself. Avoid idolatry.
