Biographical data
(Zaragoza, 1869 – ID., 1941). Architect qualified by the ESA of Madrid (December 1897). He lives in Zaragoza, where he works as a civil construction architect for the Ministry of Public Instruction, a professor at the School of Arts and Crafts, and a drawing professor at the Faculty of Sciences. As conservator of national monuments he restored the castle of Loarre and the cloister of San Juan de Duero in Soria and dismantled the “patio de la infanta” in Zaragoza (1902). He performs a “modest modernism” (Torralba), more decorative than structural. His rationalist work lacks scope.
Construction
Modernism: In Zaragoza, and among the buildings for the Hispano-French Exposition of 1908, he created the «La Caridad» pavilion with Magdalena and Yarza. Residential buildings: 1911, Paseo de Sagasta, 40. 1913, Cervantes, 9 (defunct); Cervantes, 5 and 7 (disappeared); Cadiz, 12; Master Estremiana, 1; Captain Portoles, 2; Lagasca, 4 and 6; paseo de Sagasta, 36. Rationalism: Zaragoza: reform and extension of the house of Miguel Servet, 79 (project, 1939). From 1936 is its expansion-reform of the School of Commerce.
