The ESR (also called erythrocyte sedimentation rate ) represents an index present in the blood : it is a sign of an ongoing inflammatory process. This is the rate of sedimentation of the corpuscular part present in the blood, which is deposited on the bottom of the test tube used for the analysis. One of the causes of an increase in ESR could be burns .
