How to write bold text on WhatsApp.
Here’s how to write bold, italic and strikethrough text on WhatsApp .
With the update 2.17.51 released on 22 August 2017 it is possible to write in italics, in bold and even strike out the text without having to insert the symbols that, until now, allowed the formatting of the text.
How to write bold text on WhatsApp
Thanks to the update – downloadable for FREE on the Apple Store and Google Play – just hold down a part of the text to format it in bold, italic or strikethrough.
- Write the text of your message
- Before sending it, select a word and / or a phrase
- Hold and scroll to B I U
- Click on the item indicated by the red arrow (see image below) and format your text as you wish!
Before this update, in order to write a bold text on the WhatsApp chat it was necessary to add an asterisk (*) before and after the word / phrase.
Example : * hello *
As for the italic text, an underscore (_) had to be inserted before and after the word / phrase.
Example: _hello_
And a tilde (~) before and after the word / phrase, for strikethrough text .
Example: ~ hello ~
