How to use your phone as a microphone with WO Mic on Windows
WO Mic is a free app whose purpose is to turn your smartphone into a microphone that works on both Android and iOS operating systems. It is compatible with the Windows operating system and to work as a microphone, it must be installed on both PC and smartphone.
Once the installation process is complete, you will need to connect your PC and smartphone via Wi-Fi , USB cable , Wi-Fi Direct or Bluetooth .
The app works with other video conferencing programs, such as: Teams , Skype , Zoom and Jitsi .
How to configure WO Mic
Before configuring WO Mic it is necessary to install the client and the driver. Download Wo Mic from the Play Store , if you have an Android smartphone or from the App Store , if you have an iPhone . Immediately after, install the WO Mic client on Windows by downloading it from this page .
Install the WOMicClientSetupVx.x.exe client downloaded to your computer, by clicking on it twice, and immediately afterwards also download the womic_driver_setup.exe file to install the drivers necessary to make Windows detect the microphone and use it on all applications.

The connection between PC and smartphone can take place in various ways. Let’s see what they are.
How to connect to WO Mic via Wi-Fi
It is the simplest and only method that works with iPhones. To use it you must:
- On your smartphone, start the installation and after opening it, stop on the Yes, I agree button.
- Check that your phone and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the WO Micapp and tap the gear icon.
- Select the Wi-Fioption in the Transport item .
- Go back and from the main stage screen on the play icon(the triangular one)
- The first time you will have to press Allowto allow the app to record audio.
- You will see a gray boxwith the IP address of the phone , to be saved.
- Then open the application on Windows and click on Connection> Connectand check the Wi-Fi item .
- Enter the IP addressof the phone (seen previously) and click on Connect .
You are ready to use your mobile as a PC microphone.
How to connect to WO Mic via USB
The method below only works with Android smartphones:
- Connect the smartphone to the PC via USBcable .
- Enable USB Debuggingon the smartphone .
- Open the Wo Micapp on your phone .
- Press on the gear icon, at the top right, and select the USB option in the Transport item .
- Launch the WO Micclient on Windows 10.
- Click on Connection, then on Connect and check USB and then press Connect .
- If everything went well, the link will appear and you can go back to the Android appand press the Play button (icon with triangle at the top).
You can start using your smartphone as a PC microphone.
How to connect to WO Mic via Bluetooth
To connect via Bluetooth you need:
- Turn on Bluetoothon your phone by going to Settings> Connections> Bluetooth .
- Go to Windows 10 and press the WIN + ikey combination to access the Settings .
- Select Devices> Bluetoothand other devices.
- Click Add Bluetooth Device.
- Select the phone and follow the procedure to follow.
- After pairing, activate the WO Micclient on Windows.
- Click on Connection > Connectand check Bluetooth and then press the Connect button .
- Open the phone, start the app Wo Micand press on ‘ icon of gear .
- Select Transportand then the Bluetooth option .
- Wait for the link to appear on a Windows client, go back to the app on Androidand press Play (icon with triangle).
Problems using WO Mic
If despite all the steps you have taken you still have problems and not hear anything on your PC, I recommend that you check that the microphone of WO Mic is correctly set as a recording audio device.
To do this, go to Windows Settings ( Win + i ), then to System and click on Audio (in the left sidebar).
On the right screen, in the Input section , locate the drop-down menu ( Choose input device ), click on it and select the Wo Mic Device microphone .
Below you can test the correct functioning of the new microphone by trying to speak to see if your voice is correctly detected.
Alternatives to WO Mic
Once everything is configured, you can use WO Mic in the various video conferencing software, simply by going to the Settings and selecting the Wo mic device or iPhone option , if you have configured it on the iPhone.
However, there are valid alternatives to WO Mic . If you have a male male audio cable , just plug one end of the cable into your computer’s 3.5-inch jack and the other end into your smartphone’s jack. Obviously this path is only viable if your smartphone is equipped with an audio jack .
