Three main ways to get around quickly in Red Dead Redemption 2: Train and Carriage, Free Way Through Camp
After three or four long journeys from one part of the map to another, you will become interested in how the fast travel system works in Red Dead Redemption 2, and if it is not available, then how to unlock it. If you have not yet unlocked fast travel, you can use other methods of fast travel around the map, allowing you to get to the farthest points of the open world as soon as it becomes available.
How to unlock the fast travel function
Even at the beginning of the second chapter, “fast travel” will not be available. The system will need to be unlocked as you progress through the game’s storyline and unlock several camp improvements.
To get started, get to the story quest “Lending and other vices”. Knock money out of the first debtor, as a result of which you will gain access to a book that allows you to improve Dutch’s camp.

Regardless of whether you unlocked the fast travel system through the camp upgrade or are going to do so later, there are other ways to travel. One of them is carriages . You will see an icon with a “pointer”, which is usually found in most cities, ranches and other locations that have a signature on the map.
If you have been to this place before, you can pay a cabman to take you there. By the way, if the game does not allow you to use a carriage, then most likely you are in the process of completing an important stage of the story mission, you must deal with the bounty hunters or are riding a horse. Eliminate these shortcomings and then you can hit the road.
Another method of transportation is by train. Most large settlements have an “envelope” icon indicating a train station. Not only will there be the postmaster where you can buy off the bounty hunters, but also the point to buy your train ticket to distant destinations.
Unlike carriages, you can take the train to any place along its route, starting with the second chapter (where the open world will appear). In addition, the cost of a train ticket is cheaper than traveling with a cab.
On the other hand, the train travels only through well-known, large settlements, while a coach carriage takes you to a small ranch. Therefore, both methods are useful. But if you want to save money, you will have to unlock and learn how to properly use the fast travel system in the camp.
