How to turn the selfies we take with our iPhone in iOS 14

The selfies and all the photos that we take with the front camera of our device have a small detail that, although it usually goes unnoticed, jumps out when we meet it. We are talking about the mirror effect, or the fact that the images are inverted on their vertical axis .

How do I see myself or how others see me?

The front camera’s on-screen viewfinder applies the mirror effect to the scene. The reason for this is that since the main way we see ourselves is in mirrors , which by its nature applies this effect, we would look strange if it were not so. On the other hand, when we capture the image and save it in Photos, the system applies the mirror effect again. In this way we see the image as if another person were looking at us.

The truth is that it is quite a peculiar and fun effect to play with. In general, we will see ourselves much better with the mirror effect applied , while our friends and family will prefer the photo without the mirror, as they see us; question of customs.

Now, with iOS 14, we can choose which version of the photo we want to be saved, the one we see in the viewfinder, with the mirror effect applied, or the one another person would see when looking at us , without the mirror effect. The steps to configure this option are very simple:

  1. We open the Settingsapp on our iPhone.
  2. We enter the Chamber.
  3. We activate or deactivate Mirror front camera.

When the image is activated it looks like we see ourselves in the mirror, when it is deactivated it looks like someone looking at us.
