Recently, however, in the Per Te section you have noticed the diffusion of a new type of content: photo carousels accompanied by overlay music and texts. You are particularly curious about this new way of creating content and, therefore, you would like to know more about how to make it happen.

In the next chapters of my tutorial, in fact, I will show you in detail the main features of the TikTok photo mode , explaining, step by step, how to use it to create photo slideshows that capture the attention of social network users.

What is TikTok photo mode
Before explaining how to post photos on TikTok I want to briefly illustrate the main features of this new method of creating content from the well-known social network
The photo mode of TikTok is a new mode introduced by the famous social network in October 2022 and allows you to create carousels composed of a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 35 still images that are automatically displayed one after the other. In addition, overlay lyrics and a soundtrack can be added to these , using a song chosen from those available in the platform’s music library.
The function in question is somewhat reminiscent of the way a carousel post is published on Instagram , but differs in the ability to add textual and superimposed elements to the photos, as well as for the maximum number of photos that can be published (maximum 35 , against the 10 photos of the Instagram carousels ). In addition, using the photo mode on TikTok you can write longer descriptions for each post, up to 2,200 characters , so you can express your creativity with greater freedom.
You must know that the photo mode of TikTok is introduced on the server side and therefore, it is not necessary to wait for a specific update of the social network app. However, in order to use this feature, currently usable only from smartphones and tablets , make sure that the TikTok app for Android and iOS / iPadOS is updated to the latest version, so that you can use all its editing tools without encounter problems. in case of doubts or problems, refer to the instructions in my tutorial dedicated to how to update TikTok .
How to use photo mode on TikTok
Having said the introductory premises, let’s see together, step by step, how to use the photo mode on TikTok to share a photo carousel, using the social network app for Android and iPhone / iPad . The procedures to be carried out, in fact, are the same on both operating systems for mobile devices.
To get started then, launch the social network app and log into your account if necessary. Once this is done, press the (+) button located at the bottom to start the TikTok editor. Then, press the Upload button located in the lower right corner and then press the Photos tab , in order to view all the images in the gallery of your device.
At this point, put the check mark on the item Select multiple items located in the lower left corner, so that you can select a maximum of 35 images , putting a check mark on them, to be published on TikTok as a carousel. After selecting them, press the Next button and then, in the next screen that is shown to you, tap the Switch to photo mode button , in order to activate this feature.
Then, to aesthetically beautify the slideshow, first of all I suggest you press on the musical note box located at the top, in order to select a song among those recommended or those added to the list of favorites , adjusting the volume , using the appropriate lever.
Furthermore, you can use the additional tools located in the sidebar on the right of the screen: the Aa button is used to add writings that can be applied as an overlay for each photo of the carousel; then you can add filters , activate automatic photo enhancement ( Enhance ) perform a crop ( Crop ) and, finally, add stickers overlay.
Finally, when you have finished editing, press the Next button , write the accompanying text in the caption and, when ready, press the Publish button to publish the photo carousel on TikTok. You didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?
