When to pay a fine
Even before understanding if and how to pay a fine online, it is certainly useful to try to understand the timing for the payment of the fine for violation of the Highway Code .
In summary:
- by paying the fine within 5 days from the date of notification or immediate dispute, you will be entitled to a 30% discount on the amount of the fine;
- by paying the fine after the fifth day but within the sixtieth day, a reduced penalty can be obtained, even if the discount will obviously be less important than that obtainable in the first case;
- if you pay the fine beyond 60 days, you risk an unpleasant doubling of the sanction envisaged in the report, as well as interest on late payments.
In short, if you do not have the idea of contesting the fine , it is certainly advisable to act as soon as possible in order to obtain significant discounts on the amount of the fine.

How to pay fines online
Having clarified the above, there are mainly three channels for paying fines online .
The first is represented by the Municipality website, if enabled and if the fine has been raised by the municipal police.
It will therefore be sufficient to connect to the website of the Municipality of reference, access the section dedicated to this purpose and enter all the required data, i.e. vehicle license plate, report number, date of the infringement, data of the payment instrument.
The second channel, on the other hand, consists of the Poste Italiane website , through which it is possible to proceed with the regulation of the sanction.
Once the data entered has been verified, the Poste Italiane system will create an e-mail account that can be activated by entering a code that the user will receive at his home via a telegram.
Once the telegram has arrived, it will be sufficient to access the page concerning the payment of bulletins on Poste Italiane again, enter the requested data (including the code of the bond, which is the first 16-digit number that is shown in the last line of the bulletin and of the minutes) and confirm the operation by entering the payment method with which you want to regularize your position (such as a credit card, a PostePay, the IBAN of your BancoPosta Online account).
Finally, there is also the possibility of being able to pay the fine by online bank transfer , directly from your home or office.
To do this, it will therefore be sufficient to access your internet banking service, select the item relating to the payment of the sanction from the credit institution menu and proceed to confirm the transaction after filling in the form with all the required data.
The other ways to pay the fine
Keep in mind that the three channels mentioned above are certainly not the only ones to be able to pay fines .
In fact, you can also regularize the sanction in tobacconists and betting shops, which display the appropriate logo outside, in affiliated Sisal betting shops, at post offices or bank agencies or directly at the offices of the municipal police force of the Municipality that has raised the fine, or in the provincial sections of the traffic police.
In any case, do not worry: if you have kept with you all the documentation with which you were notified of the fine, you should be able to see at least one sheet containing all the useful information on how to pay the fine. Just read the contents of this sheet to be able to promptly regularize your position.
