How to earn experience points, power up characters, and more
Overkill’s The Walking Dead is a new co-op first-person shooter created by Starbreeze Studios and 505 Games, set in the popular post-apocalyptic universe. Gamers are offered to take the role of one of the available characters and take part in story missions. Many missions are related to the protection of a certain territory from the attack of a horde of zombies or Family bandits. As you progress through new tasks, you need to increase the level of the characters, which will match the current difficulty of the proposed quests. Here’s how to level up and upgrade heroes in Overkill’s The Walking Dead below.
Getting experience points to level up
Each character is assigned a unique level. This means that if you want to pump all the heroes, you will have to play for each of them separately. When you try to complete a task or complete a mission, at the end you see a screen with statistics. Among other rewards, the character is awarded experience points. Of course, more experience points will be awarded for successfully completed tasks. However, even if you fail, do not rush to close the game with Alt + F4 : wait a little, and you will still get at least some kind of reward for your efforts.
At the end of each task, you will also see information about the character’s progress: here you can find out how many experience points you need to earn in order for the hero to move to a new level.

Improving characters
The more you play for a specific hero, the faster his level will rise. In turn, thanks to this, you can improve leadership skills, passive skills and weapon skills. To upgrade a hero, go to the Characters tab in the main menu and select the one you would like to upgrade. Select “Skills” on the right side of the screen to open the skill tree.
Each character has two skill trees (not counting the skills associated with the use of weapons): one associated with the class (leadership ability), the other with general skills. If you want to improve your character’s health or stamina, then do it in the tree of main abilities.
On the other hand, improving class skills will make your character more useful to the team. For example, you can improve Maya’s Leadership Ability “Medicine Bag”. This will increase the number of charges (how many times Maya can heal teammates). In addition, Maya will be able to restore more health points to the selected companion at a time.
Council. Do not rush and complete all the storyline tasks one after another. To strengthen your character, you will have to repeat the passage of the previous quests two or three times. This will allow you to get additional experience points, which are extremely necessary to improve the hero. Having strengthened the character, first of all, replay the previous missions in order to understand how the chosen skill simplified the task set before you.
