How to hijack emails

Have you decided to abandon your old email address in favor of another mailbox with no stringent limits for attachments and with additional extra features? You did really well, I can’t tell you more.

However, if you are here now and are reading this guide, it seems clear to me that you have a problem: despite having communicated your new email account to everyone, there are still several people who write to you at the other address. Wouldn’t it be nice to receive these messages directly in your new mailbox too? Well, know that it is possible.

By now all the main e-mail services offer functions to automatically forward received messages to other addresses; everything is usually done in a few clicks and at no cost; in this way you can manage all your e-mails from a single location without having to access various mailboxes each time. If the thing interests you (and given the circumstances I assume it is!), Then read this guide of mine on how to hijack e-mails from one address to another and you will quickly discover how to achieve your goal.

How to hijack Gmail emails

If you want to find out how to hijack Gmail e-mails , the first steps you need to take to succeed in your intent are to start the browser you usually use on your computer (eg. Chrome ), go to the Gmail home page and log in to your account (if required) by filling in the appropriate forms visible on the screen.

Once logged in, click on the gear icon located at the top right and press the View all settings button from the menu that appears. In the new screen that appears, go to the Forwarding and POP / IMAP tab at the top and click on the Add a forwarding address button that you find in the Forwarding section .

In the window that opens, type the e-mail address from which to import messages in the text field below the heading Enter a new email address for forwarding and click first on the Next button and then on the Proceed button .

Now, you need to confirm that you are the owner of the email address added for forwarding. To do this, log in to the latter, open the email sent to you by Google and click on the confirmation link contained therein. Then press the Confirm button in the browser tab that will open.

Then go back to the Gmail settings and activate the automatic forwarding of all e-mails by first typing the transaction confirmation code received from Google via e-mail (always the message that contained the link to enable forwarding) in the code field confirmation , the one next to the item Verify email @ emal.com (instead of email @ email.com you will find the email address to which you want to redirect Gmail messages). Next, click on the adjacent Verify button.

Select, therefore, the option Forward a copy of the inbox to , choose from the adjacent drop-down menu the e-mail address previously added on which you want the e-mails to be forwarded to and indicate the operation to be carried out subsequently from the menu e . (you can keep all forwarded messages, mark them as read, archive them or delete them).

Finally, save the changes made and the configuration set to hijack e-mails by clicking on the Save changes button located at the bottom. As proof of the success of the operation, you will see a special message appear at the top of the screen (it will automatically disappear after 7 days).

Obviously, if you have second thoughts, you can retrace your steps simply by going back to the Gmail settings, proceeding as seen together above, selecting the Disable forwarding option that you find in the POP / IMAP forwarding tab and confirm the choice made by pressing the Save changes button .

Keep in mind that the changes made will be valid from any program and app, from any device, you decide to use your Gmail account and not only on the web version of the service. More info here .

How to hijack Outlook emails

If, on the other hand, what you are interested in doing is hijack Outlook e-mails , first open the browser and go to the Outlook.com home page and log in to your account (if necessary) by filling in the appropriate text fields shown on the screen.

Once logged in, click on the button with the gear located in the upper right corner of the screen shown, select the item View all Outlook settings in the lower part of the menu that appears and, in the page that opens, first click on the Mail option on the left and then on the Forwarding item located in the right section.

Select, therefore, the option Enable forwarding on the right, type the e-mail address to which you want to redirect the mail, choose whether to keep a copy of the forwarded messages by ticking the box next to the appropriate item and finally, click on the Save button located at the top.

Should you have second thoughts, you can disable the function that allows you to hijack Outlook.com emails simply by going back to the forwarding settings of the service, as I have just indicated. Then remove the check mark next to the Enable forwarding box and finally confirm the changes by always pressing the Save item .

Even in this case, know that the changes made to redirect mail to another address will be valid not only on the Web version of Outlook, but also on any other software and app, from any device, you want to use the service.

How do you say? Do you use Microsoft Outlook , intended as an e-mail client for Windows and macOS ? In this case, I invite you to read my specific study on how to forward emails from Outlook .

How to hijack iCloud email

Do you own an iPhone , iPad and / or Mac , use iCloud based email service and would like to understand how to hijack iCloud email ? I’ll settle you immediately! First, open your browser and go to the iCloud.com home page , then log in to your account (if necessary) by typing the login information in the appropriate text fields.

Once logged in, click on the Mail icon , press the gear button at the top left and select Preferences from the menu shown. In the window that now appears on the screen, select the General tab and check the box next to Forward my emails to located in the Forwarding section and type the reference e-mail address in the adjacent text field.

If you then want the hijacked e-mails to be deleted after forwarding, remember to also check the box next to Delete messages after forwarding . In conclusion, save the changes made by clicking on the Finish item located at the top.

In case of second thoughts, you can retrace your steps by accessing the Mail preferences as I have already explained to you, removing the check mark from the Forward my emails to item and confirming the changes by clicking on the Finish item .

Please note that the changes made will be valid not only on the Web version of Mail, but also by Mail for iOS, iPadOS and macOS, as well as by any other software and app and from any device.

How to hijack emails with other services

Do you use an e-mail service other than those already mentioned and would like to understand how to hijack e-mails also in this case? Starting from the fundamental assumption that I cannot provide you with precise indications on what to do, as I do not know the exact service of your interest, in principle the operations to be performed are similar to those seen together previously with regard to the Web Mail solutions mentioned. .

So, what you have to do is go to the home page of your e-mail service, access your account by typing the required login data (if necessary), go to the section dedicated to settings , locate the option for forwarding the e-mail , select the appropriate item to enable the service and type the e-mail address to which you want to redirect messages.

If there are any items and menus relating to the actions to be taken following the submission, choose what you deem most appropriate, then click on the button to save and apply the changes made.

For example, if what you are using is the Libero Mail service , to hijack your email messages you must access the service, click on the button with the gear located at the top right, choose Settings from the menu that appears, expand the Mail menu on the left in the newly displayed web page and select Auto forward .

Subsequently, type in the text field under the heading Forward all incoming messages to this address the reference e-mail address, choose whether to keep a copy of the forwarded message by checking the appropriate box at the bottom and select the Activate item for enable the service.

However, keep in mind that some e-mail services, as in the case of the aforementioned Libero Mail, allow you to redirect e-mails only to another account belonging to the same service and not to third party addresses. The thing, however, should be clearly indicated by trying to enable the function for forwarding.

I also inform you that there are also other e-mail services that do not offer any options for forwarding , so if you can’t find references by “browsing” in the settings, it is evidently because this is not feasible.

For example, Yahoo Mail allowed you to hijack email until what time ago, while today the function is no longer available, even for those who had already enabled it in the past.

Alternative solutions to email hijacking

In the previous lines I have explained to you how to forward all the e-mail received on a given e-mail address to another account. However, you must know that there is also another method that can be useful in this case: the one consisting in using the function that allows you to automatically “turn” messages received on an e-mail address to another account (not necessarily personal ) based on custom rules .

If you are interested in this and wish to investigate the matter further, I suggest you consult my article on how to forward an email automatically through which I have proceeded to talk to you about it in great detail.

Filters , which can be enabled both on Web Mail services and on traditional clients, are also particularly useful in this regard . For further information, refer to my tutorial on how to sort e-mail .
