Getting character list errors has been a longstanding problem in the history of World of Warcraft. Often the problem occurs randomly and without warning. - Delete Cache Folder– Open the WoW game folder on your computer and navigate to the Cache folder inside. Open it and delete everything inside it. After that, open the Battle.net launcher and navigate to WoW. When you try to launch or immediately after opening the launcher, WoW will try to restore the Cache folder. Most of the time this will fix the problem.
- Disable all add-ons– Playing WoW without add-ons really sucks, but sometimes the problem is due to an add-on. To find out if this is the case, disable all your add-ons and try launching the game. If the game launches and you can get a list of your characters, you now know the add-on is the cause.
- Restart your computer– There are so many variables working in tandem in PC games that sometimes a simple restart is enough to fix a bug. So, try restarting your computer and after that download WoW. If everything works as intended, well, the troubleshooting is over.
