Dragonflight Season 2 offers some of the best raid trinkets I’ve seen in a long time. This time, Blizzard has made them significantly stronger than their Mythic Plus counterparts, giving the raid some semblance of meaning beyond boasting. Sinister Chromatic Essence is no exception, featuring one of the most unique trinket mechanics I’ve seen in a long time, and I’ve been playing WoW for a very long time, dear reader. As a trinket, Sinister Chromatic Essence is in high demand. How do you get it, you ask? Well, you have come to the right place to study.
Where to get Sinister Chromatic Essence Trinket in WoW Dragonflight
As previously mentioned, Sinister Hormatic Essence is a trinket that can be obtained from Aberress, the Shadowforge raid introduced in Season 2 of Flight of Dragons. Forgotten Experiments Encounter, which is an early encounter in the raid. Luckily, the battle against Forgotten Experiments is pretty easy even at the highest level, so getting this trinket isn’t hard. As a raid trinket, its item level is based on skirmish level, while Mythic is the highest possible item level.
The trinket can also be given to you as a reward from the Great Vault every week. Once again, the vault item is dependent on your overall progress in the raid, so players who only run Mythic Plus cannot get it using this method.

How does Sinister Chromatic Essence work?
Sinister Hormatic Essence offers a healthy dose of your class’s core stats (Strength, Intelligence, Agility), but the main mechanic and reason it’s sought after is its unique special effect. You see, the trinket gives the user a certain secondary stat (Mastery, Critical Strike, Haste, Versatility) depending on which of the five dragonflights you choose to tune into. They are the following:
- Bronze Dragons– Haste
- Green Dragons– Critical Strike
- Red Dragons– Versatility
- Blue Dragon– Mastery
- Black Dragons– All stats, evenly
The number of secondary stats you get from this trinket depends on its item level. To actually tune in to the Dragonflight, you must interact with the appropriate Oathstones, which can be found scattered throughout the Dragon Isles:
- Bronze Oathstone– Found in Taldrasus.
- Green Oathstone– Found in the On’aran Plains.
- Red Oathstone– Found in the Waking Shores.
- Blue Oathstone– Found in the Azure Gap
- Black Oathstone– Found in the Waking Shores, in the Obsidian Citadel.
Once you interact with the Oathstone, you will have this secondary stat permanently as long as you keep the trinket equipped. Cool trinket, right?
