Change your username in 5 seconds
- The first thing we must do is open the Skype app , either on mobile, PC or in the web version of the browser.
- We must direct our gaze and the mouse cursor to our profile photo , and click on it.
- Now we locate the option “Skype Profile” , and a dialog box opens with some information that we can edit.
- Among all the options, we see the Skype username. Click on it, or on the pencil-shaped icon and change it.
- At this point, we take the opportunity to say that we can also change the photo , in case we want to update it.
I don’t want to use my Skype account, how do I create a new account?
If what we are looking for is to change the name of the account, we have already anticipated that it cannot be done. In fact, Skype makes it very clear on its website: “(…) when the account is created and cannot be modified.”
So you would have to go to the beginning of the whole process and start again to create another account , it is not necessary to delete the one that already exists, nor does it hinder having several active accounts.
- We enter the official website of Skype , and click on the “Login” option .
- We choose “Register” .
- They ask us for a phone number, or a Hotmail email and password.
- Put our name and surname .
- Now it’s time to fill out a form with our data , such as age, date of birth, name, a photograph, nationality, etc.
- We click on “Next” and now they ask us to confirm our account .
- To do this, we must go to the email they have sent us (if we have chosen to use our email, or open the SMS (if we have chosen to enter our phone number). Whatever the case, they will have sent us a security code that we must enter in the box and thus verify our account.
- The account is already created and we just have to download the app for mobiles and tablets, or for Windows and Mac, log in and start enjoying Skype .
- In order for someone else to find us on Skype and add us, we must give them our account name, the email with which we created the account, or the phone number.
