Microsoft is going to launch an update of the Windows 10 start menu in the coming weeks, with a different design, simpler and somewhat transparent. Well, we are going to show you how to activate the new Windows Start menu , before the update arrives.
All of this is possible because the code for this new start menu is already implemented in update KB4568831 for Windows 10 2004, an update that came out in May 2020.

Microsoft is currently working on two updates, Windows 10 20H2 and 21H1 . The first of them will arrive in a few months (about October or November) that will modify Windows 10 2004 a bit.
If we want to activate this option, we do not have to wait for Windows to do it for us, since we can do it ourselves with a simple modification of the registry.
If you are one of those who cannot wait to see the updates on your computer, this is the easiest and simplest way.
The steps to follow are really simple:
- The first thing, for security, is that you create a restore point just in case, to be covered from any problem.
- Now we must find and install the KB4568831 version , which only appears if we have the Windows 10 2004 macro update installed .
- Now we must open Notepad .
- In the file created by said notepad, we must paste the following text:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ FeatureManagement \ Overrides \ 0 \ 2093230218]
“EnabledState” = dword: 00000002
“EnabledStateOptions” = dword: 00000000
- Now we save this file from Notepad as 20H2.reg
- We execute 20H2.reg and apply the changes that occur in the registry.
- As a last step we restart the operating system .
With what we have done, the new start menu should come out the next time you start Windows 10, in addition the Alt-Tab experience will be incorporated , which includes Microsoft Edgey tabs and new icons for folders.
