You can easily activate your microphone if you want to use it in Windows 10 , although you must first check some other aspect so that you can use it correctly in video calls, to record video tutorials or any other possibility that occurs to you.
First of all, you must connect your microphone to the computer , it has a 3.5 mm jack connector that you must plug into the corresponding port of your PC, generally most towers or even laptops have a small microphone drawing so you know where to connect it .
Now it’s time to activate the microphone and test it before using it, so you make sure that it is working well and you will not have problems later, although the vast majority of users just connect it and start using it, something that works the vast majority of times.
And it is that Windows 10 detects that a microphone has been plugged in and activates it by default, but if that does not happen it is better to activate it manually, so it is better to check that it is indeed the case and then we have no operating problems. These would be the steps to follow
- Make sure you connect the microphone to the computer, this step is important because it is the key to the whole process and it is useless if you have connected it to another port that is not, that is not going to work.
- Now press the Windows + Q keys, type configuration and enter the option. Then go to system / sound and open the “microphone” section.
- Go to the bottom and click on “manage sound devices” .
- In the input devices part, you should see the microphone you have plugged in, just press it and click “enable” to activate it.
- It should be able to work now, but now you can try to configure it correctly in case you still have not been able to be heard in your video calls, for that you press the Windows + Q keys, type “control panel” and enter that option.
- Click on sound, go to the “record” tab and click on the microphone that is currently activated, when you speak you should see if the sound levels move in any of the options, then that will be the one we are going to configure press that and click on “configure”.
- Choose the option “configure microphone” and follow the steps of the wizard, you will be asked to set the type of microphone and perform some other test to check its operation.
At the end of all this process, the microphone would already be activated in Windows 10 and you could use it to record your voice, make narrated tutorials or use it in your video calls via Skype, Zoom and other similar applications.
