Ontogeny
Feeling of superiority of a person over others, in their way of behaving or speaking in a distant and conceited way.
Be aware
Sometimes the word haughty is taken in a good sense, especially when it corresponds to the sublime elevation of ideas. The arrogant person never has a good sense, unless it is speaking metaphorically about things.
In the social sphere
The haughty man tries to enslave others; haughty manners cause anger and resentment to those who have to suffer them, manifest the vanity of fools, and even make them ridiculous.
The greatest manifestation of haughtiness and pride is pretending to live without God. It is to believe that we do not need God and we can live in this world separated from Him. The Bible says in Isaiah 5:15 “… the eyes of the haughty will be lowered.”
In Psalm 10: 4
“The wicked, because of the haughtiness of his face, does not seek God. There is no God in any of his thoughts ”
