Facelift surgery

Facelift surgery is a cosmetic surgery that consists of removing wrinkles from the skin of a woman or a man, through cosmetic surgery. This is achieved by stretching the skin and removing excess skin that has appeared as a consequence of different factors such as the passage of time or a significant weight reduction

objective

The objective pursued with the facelift is to rejuvenate the appearance of a person. Lifting surgery could be accompanied by other cosmetic surgery, such as liposuction (for example, if it were necessary to remove excess fat) or by tightening the muscles below the treated area (submuscular lifting), in order to get better results. The convenience of also performing other surgeries to achieve the desired results will be evaluated by the surgeon according to the particular case of each candidate.

Operation

Hospitalization lasts between 24 and 48 hours, but the intervention only takes between 2 and 3 hours. It is performed under local anesthesia or neuroleptanalgesia (local anesthesia with deep sedation). After making incisions in the scalp and around the ear , which end in the nape, the skin is peeled off and the face and neck are tightened again. Don’t worry, the incisions are made so that the scars are as inconspicuous as possible. In reality, the facelift not only treats the skin, but also deeper fat and muscle areas, such as the neck and cheek muscles.

After the operation

This phase is very important. 8 to 10 days after the operation, the face is swollen or somewhat deformed by the ecchymoses, which vary according to the patient. You will have to wear a compression mask to minimize edema. As with all surgical operations, facelifts can have side effects. Generally, bruises usually come out that the surgeon, however, should rarely remove. The stitches are removed 7 and 15 days after the operation. Finally, you have to know that the skin maintains a stiff appearance and is insensitive the first month.
