As I said before you can create urban vertical gardens in any place free of your home and without land, but, these must meet a number of conditions to ensure excellent production of edible vegetables:

  • For plants to develop properly, it is necessary that the place is exposed to sunlight for at least two hours.
  • If you are going to create a vertical garden on the terrace or on the balcony, you will have to protect it from the winds.
  • Place the urban garden near a source of drinking water to ensure a constant safe irrigation.
  • All the containers you use must have good drainage to avoid waterlogging, whether irrigation or rain.
  • Wash the reused materials and clean them very well so that there are no remaining toxic substances.

Vertical orchard with pallets

Of all the objects that are usually discarded when they are still in condition, the pallets are the most useful, since with them you can create a beautiful vertical garden . If you have the option to choose, choose a pallet that is in good condition and with no spikes or splinters.

Once you have the pallet, sand it and varnish it. Procure a waterproof fabric and cover the part that will be on the side of the wall. Place a few layers to make it resistant and cover the bottom of the pallet.

Choose the plants you want and make several combinations. You can even set up a vertical garden with parsley , lettuce and other aromatic plants . Once you have planted, water and let the plants settle with the pallet on the ground for a couple of weeks. Then, lift it up and locate your vertical garden with pallets wherever you want.

Vertical orchard with bottles

Not much is needed to create a vertical garden with bottles . Vertical orchards are increasingly used by those who have limited spaces in their home. To have a vertical garden it is important to have a solar light availability of two to six hours a day.

Take a couple of plastic bottles and cut the bottom. Make two perforations on the sides of the bottle neck and fill with organic humus. Locate on the site you have set aside for your vertical garden with bottles . Now cut the bottom of another bottle and fill it with fertilized soil. Remove the cap from the bottle and insert it into the other.

Fix both with wire to the post. Continue to do the same as with the second bottle until you have a total of five bottles. Now to bottle six you must cut about 20cm from the peak and place it without a lid inside the previous one. Cut the bottom to the next bottle and make a hole in the center of the lid. Assemble it in the previous one and pour it water.

Make a window in each bottle with the help of a scalpel and plant plants that require little care such as cilantro, basil, rosemary, parsley, etc., or seedlings.

As you can see, having a vertical garden at home is quite easy and can even be used to improve the appearance of a wall, especially if you add ornamental plants or aromatic herbs.
