Driving an electric car

Driving an electric car can be quite a rewarding experience, combining sustainable driving pleasure with the ability to save money in the long run.

What is certain is that not all electric cars have an easily accessible cost and that, therefore, this investment has ended up being beyond the reach of all budgets. The electric car incentives being launched could help in this regard, but we’re confident that, even net of them, things will remain pretty tough for most drivers.

Anyway, no fear. Provided you give up a little extra performance, it should be remembered that many cheap electric cars are available on the Italian market .

Below we have identified the 5 cheapest electric cars in Italy, with lower prices thanks to scrapping incentives and ecological bonuses.

Skoda Citigo e-iV Ambition

Let’s start with the cheapest model, the Skoda Citigo e-iV in the lowest set-up, the entry-level one, called Ambition. This model brings a 32.3 kWh battery, and allows you to travel up to 260 km with a full charge. The starting price is 22,300 euros, but thanks to the incentives provided by the government with the Relaunch dl it could go down to 12,300 euros!

ZD D2s / Bee

A little more expensive, but still in the field of cheaper electric cars, we find the D2s / Bee of the semi-unknown Zhidou. The Chinese brand offers a 20 HP electric motor, with a 17 kWh battery and a range of 122 km. It is therefore a model that will certainly not allow you to take trips out of town, but that you can still use to be able to get into possession of a vehicle to be used in the city with flexibility and, above all, at low cost, considering that with incentives the price can go down to less than 13,000 euros!

Seat Mii Electric

Certainly a bit more advanced than the last model we reviewed is the Seat Mii Electric, the first electric car of the Spanish company, with a list price starting from 23,250 euros and which, with the ecological incentives provided by the government, could now enter in your garage for 13,250 euros. It is curious to note how the mechanics and the engine are a sort of hybrid between the Citigo and the Volkswagen e-Up which we will talk about shortly. The declared autonomy is 250 km, which – if actually tested – would make this model an interesting vehicle even for trips outside the city not too far from home.

Volkswagen e-Up!

So we come to the Volkswagen e-Up !, which we talked about not too many lines ago. This is a model that was born on the same platform already used to produce the German company’s city cars, including Skoda and Seat. However, it is an even more advanced model than the colleagues we have already reviewed thanks to several technological options that certainly make us prefer it. Also for this reason the starting price in the list is higher, equal to 23,750 euros, but thanks to the bonuses already mentioned you can buy it for “only” 13,750 euros.

Smart EQ fortwo Pure

We close this list with the Smart EQ fortwo Pure, a 100% electric Smart that has a starting price – discounted with the benefits – of 15,027 euros. Inside is an 82 hp electric unit powered by a 17.6 kWh battery. The declared autonomy is 133 km. And if you want to spend a little more (but always less than 1,000 euros in addition), you can aim for the 5-door version and the possibility of hosting up to 4 people (forfour).
