Yuka – Product Scan (Android / iOS / iPadOS)
Yuka is the first INCI app I want to tell you about. It is a free solution for Android (also downloadable from alternative stores ) and iOS / iPadOS that allows you to scan the ingredients of cosmetic and food products , in order to identify the best ones for your health, possibly evaluating alternatives. It is, therefore, a complete solution to which you can then turn to both if you are looking for an app for INCI food , as well as an app for INCI products .
After downloading and starting it, register using the buttons on the main screen: you can create accounts via an email address or by quickly registering via Facebook .
Once this is done, to scan a product, press the (+) button located on the main screen and grant the permissions necessary for the correct functioning of the app. Now, using the camera, point and scan the barcode of a cosmetic or food product.
Following the scan, the app will show you the product sheet with the related ingredients and scores . In the event that an alternative is present in the database, it will be indicated to you, for the purpose of evaluation and comparison with the scanned product.

Another useful solution to check the INCI of a product is Biodtionary : it is a famous app for Android (also downloadable from alternative stores ) and iOS / iPadOS which is exclusively dedicated to the verification of the ingredients present in cosmetic products , for the purpose to identify products containing ingredients that are particularly harmful to health and the environment.
Using this app is really a breeze: after you have downloaded and started it, you just have to use the search engine on the main screen: type the name of an ingredient related to a cosmetic product and press the Search button on biodtionary .
Following the research carried out, the corresponding results will be shown and you can evaluate the judgment through a traffic light symbol: two green dots indicate that it is a beneficial, certainly harmless ingredient .
Even a green dot indicates that the ingredient is harmless; while two yellow dots indicate that it is an ingredient that may need more controls. In this case, users are invited to turn to the forum of the Biodictionary site to ask for a comparison with users.
Instead, the presence of a red dot or dots indicates that the ingredient is considered harmful or unacceptable . It could therefore be an ingredient that is considered harmful to health and the environment.
Furthermore, once you have searched for the ingredient of a cosmetic product, you can also analyze it through the presence of a brief description which allows you to better understand the type.

The operation of the app in question is really simple and intuitive and, among its main features, there is the one that allows you to scan a product to check its composition. In addition, this app also allows you to search for various other products in the database, sorted according to certain categories.
After downloading and starting the application, press the Scan a product button , in case you want to analyze the composition of a cosmetic product you have. After granting access to the camera, scan the barcode to see, in the next screen proposed, the detailed product sheet with all the details relating to its composition.
The descriptive sheet indicates the score obtained by the product and the complete list of ingredients , with a color evaluation: the green colored ingredients are categorized with a good score , those in red are indicated with a controversial / risky evaluation while those with yellow color have the satisfactory wording .
Furthermore, by tapping on the ingredients you can get more information about them, thanks to a descriptive card that explains in detail the function of the ingredient itself and its presence in the cosmetic products of common use.
Alternatively, if you do not have a cosmetic product to be analyzed, you can search for it using the Search function , which allows you to evaluate the ingredients of the cosmetic products in the database. By tapping on the button in question, in fact, you can search for a product by its name or you can explore the various categories present to see the descriptions of the products previously scanned by users.
Greenity (Android/iOS)
Another app for INCI products I want to tell you about is Greenity : a solution for Android (also downloadable from alternative stores ) and iOS similar to the previous ones, which allows you to scan the ingredients of cosmetic products , but also to search for those present in a rich shared database, being able to filter the search to the best by selecting only the products with the best ingredients.
Using it is very simple: after downloading it and running it on your device, press the Scan button , authorizing access to the camera, so you can scan the barcode and get the product description sheet and all the information as a result on its ingredients .
Also in this case you will be shown an overall overall evaluation of the product and for each ingredient, you will see a red or green color , depending on whether it is a product containing positively or negatively evaluated ingredients .
Alternatively, through the main screen you can see the descriptive cards and the list of ingredients related to some cosmetic products frequently searched for by users. You can also search for product data sheets using the Search button : in this way you can search by product name or you can locate it through the various product categories in the database.
