6 Ways to Treat Toothache

The problem of cavities is actually not only experienced by children. Do not believe? According to data from the Ministry of Health (2013), approximately 25.9 percent of Indonesia’s population has dental and mouth problems, including cavities. Well, sufferers from all walks of life, ranging from children, adolescents, adults, to the elderly.

Don’t mess with cavities, because this problem can cause aches or pains that may be unbearable. In addition, in some cases cavities can cause complications, ranging from dental infections, dental abscesses, sepsis, to tooth decay.

So, how do I treat cavities ?

1.    Tooth Fillings or Fillings

Dental fillings are a common procedure for cavities. The doctor will make a part of the tooth that has been damaged using a special drill. Then, the doctor will patch cavities with special materials, for example porcelain, gold, silver, or composites.

2. Use of Fluoride

The use of fluoride is generally carried out if the holes in the teeth are still very small, or are still in their initial stages. Here the doctor rubs liquid fluoride, foam, gel, or varnish onto the teeth for several minutes. The fluoride content in this treatment is certainly more than ordinary toothpaste.

3.    Neon light

Launch of the Cleveland Clinic, there are new treatments that are still in development to deal with cavities. For example, experimental techniques use fluorescent light. This technique is able to detect the development of dental cavities further than traditional methods (X-rays or dental examinations).

In other words, if X-rays or other dental examinations have not been able to detect cavities or risk of tooth decay, this new technique can detect them first. In some cases, when cavities can be detected early, tooth decay can be stopped or treated.

4. Crown Procedure

If tooth decay is severe enough to make teeth brittle, then the doctor may make a crown  . The doctor will install a false crown on top of the tooth that has been damaged.

Later, some of the damaged teeth are eroded and left as small as the foundation of the crown of false teeth. This fake crown can be made of gold, porcelain, resin, metal fusion porcelain, or other materials.

5. Root canal treatment

In addition to the three things above, how to deal with cavities can be through the root canal or root canal treatment. This cavity treatment is done when decay has reached the inside of the tooth (pulp) or a nerve that has died.

The doctor will remove nerve tissue, and any rotten areas. After cleaning, the doctor will patch or give a crown so that the teeth do not need to be removed.

6. Tooth Extraction

Hmm, if the tooth can’t be saved anymore, like it or not it has to be pulled out. This tooth can be removed leaving a space or gap that allows other teeth to shift. To overcome this, doctors recommend making bridges or dental implants to replace the extracted teeth.

Relieve Toothache Through Natural Ingredients

In most cases of toothache, doctors usually can not do any treatment when the teeth are still problematic or sick. Well, at least there have been several efforts made to relieve toothache due to cavities, such as:

1. Gargling Salt Water

Salt water gargling is arguably a hereditary concoction to cope with toothache. Actually according to experts, up to now the working effect of salt water as a remedy for inflammation is still a controversy. Arguably this way is a hereditary story or information from practical knowledge books.

However, salt water has its own effect. Reducing salt water can reduce surface tension so that pain in the teeth or gums can be reduced. Things that need to be underlined, gargling salt water does not eliminate the source of the disease.

2. Chew Raw Onion

This method is also not different from salt water rinse because it is a hereditary story or information from practical knowledge books. Even so, onion has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties that can control pain. You do this by killing bacteria that cause dental infections.

We can chew raw onions that are cleaned for a few minutes on the side of the tooth’s mouth that feels painful. If you can’t chew it, then place the raw onion slices directly on the tooth that hurts.

Well, if the toothache due to cavities does not improve, immediately see a doctor in order to get the right treatment.
