Biographical synthesis

Born on June 6 of the year 1987 in Santiago de Cuba , Cuba , daughter of Laureano Castillo and Elena Castillo, born in the town of Sweet Potato (Santiago de Cuba) , municipality of Santiago de Cuba and resides in Building 19-A, Apt 10 Micro 2, Cast Abel Santamaría Cuadrado , Santiago de Cuba.

He began his first studies in 1992 at the elementary school of the Los Pinos Salado Popular Council (Santiago de Cuba) , later he went to the Antonio Robert school in the town of Boniato, in the Santiago de Cuba municipality, in the province of the same name. Being the second disabled athlete in Cuba to enter a High Performance Sports Center, the ESPA Israel Reyes Zayas.

Sports career

Due to his physical qualities and mental development, at the age of eight he leans towards the practice of Athletics , with the first coach Jorge Alberto Gonce Ávila.

At the age of 10 he joined the Judo practice . In one of the incursions to the National Event of National School Games , in the province of Holguín , in a tragic accident he lost his left ear and his right upper limb and his arm was amputated at the middle level, on April 11 , 1998 .

In 2000 , when he was thirteen years old, after a long recovery process, he rejoined the practice of sport as a disabled athlete again with coach Jorge Gonce Ávila and due to the sports results shown, they endorsed the entrance to the then Provincial ESPA of Santiago de Cuba.

In 2002 , she participated in the II National Paralympic for disabled athletes, held in Santiago de Cuba, with the Nigerian national team , where she was the only Cuban athlete to dominate events before foreign visitors, with only fifteen years of age.

He has participated in national events called where he specializes in speed events, he also participates in the remaining Paralympics held from that same year, contributing a large number of titles to the province where he was born and trained as a world-class athlete.

In 2003, she participated in the first international event, the Parapan American in Santa Fe , Argentina , where she obtained a gold medal in the Long Jump and 200 meter flat events and classified for the next Paralympic Games . Once the Pan American event becomes part of the national team which is prepared in order to participate in the concluded Paralympic Games of Athens 2004 .

At the end of 2003 , the preparation intensified after having obtained the Olympic ticket, at the Pan-American Stadium , Havana , Cuba , the main training venue for the great figures of Cuban athletics, this time under the tutelage of two coaches Miriam Ferrer and Luis Bueno, for belonging to different areas of speed and jumps, respectively.

The 4 of September of 2012 qualifies for the final of the 100 meters implanting record global, pan – American and national levels in the T46 category at the XIV Paralympic Games in London 2012 , with a record of 11.95 seconds [4] .

Wednesday 5 of September of 2012 brought the seventh title to Cuba, to winning the gold medal in the 100 meters, category T46, on the sixth day of the XIV Paralympics London 2012 with a time of 12.01 [5] .

On September 8 , she won her third gold medal, the latter in the 400 meter dash, category T46, breaking a record with a time of 55.72 seconds at the XIV London 2012 Paralympic Games , with this result becoming the Cuban athlete with more Paralympic titles.

2013

The 18 of February of 2013 with a time of 26.79 seconds, won the gold in the 200 meters of the National Paralimpics VIII that developed in Las Tunas .

On July 22 in Lyon , France , he contributed the third title for Cuba by winning with a time of 56.58 seconds in the 400 meters T46 (affected upper limb) during the third date of the World Athletics Championships for the disabled affiliated with the International Paralympic Committee [6] . Later he dominated in 100 and 200 meters to win gold in both distances, leading the Cuban delegation that attended this event that ended on July 27 , 2013 [7] .

2015

After a time away from the tracks due to her motherhood, with only four months of training, on August 12 of this year, at the V Parapan American Games based in Toronto , Canada , she obtained the gold medal in the 100 meters T46, in competition held on the track at York Stadium , with a time of 12.60 seconds [8] .
