Pokémon GO lives by moving and discovering new places. But there are also numerous cheaters who skip the movement aspect. At DLPrivateServer we talked to a cheater who even uploads videos about it.
Here’s how you can cheat in Pokémon GO: Typically, Pokémon GO consists of going out and discovering landmarks that are marked as PokéStops in the game and can catch monsters anywhere. Only those that move can catch many Pokémon. However, the cheaters manipulate your GPS and make the game believe that they are moving even though they are sitting at home.
Cheaters who play with tampered GPS are called counterfeiters. They “cheat” themselves in places where a lot is happening, while fair players have to walk there.
Who do we talk to? At DLPrivateServer we spoke to YouTuber “Ramses Der Dikke”. Upload videos and live streams to Pokémon GO every day. Sometimes he plays “nice” and doesn’t cheat, but often he also manipulates his location and thus can catch Pokémon elsewhere.
We spoke to Ramses about the decision to cheat and wanted to know why he was cheating in the first place.
“Better a fake with a heart than a legitimate one without character”
How did Ramses start cheating? The YouTuber has very personal reasons why he started cheating. Then he tells us that his community has been divided and suddenly he was no longer able to participate in the raids.
Then Ramses had created several accounts to complete legendary raids alone. But since that became too cumbersome for him in the long run, he decided to cheat. “Multiple accounting is also prohibited,” Ramses explained to us, making the step towards identity theft easier for him.
Why are you cheating in Pokémon GO anyway? In the conversation, Ramses emphasized over and over again: “I also do this for my community.” He was referring to its many formats that it maintains with its viewers.
These include, for example, the foray or attention hours that you broadcast from home and then interact with your viewers via live streaming (via YouTube). Ramses also reports on his weekend projects: “We do this regularly on the weekends, where we just organize raids for the spectators. Completely altruistic because I don’t even participate “.
In our conversation, however, Ramses also explains that he started cheating because he was bored in the game. He lives in a small town where he just doesn’t have the same conditions as the players in the big cities. You would also like to do unlimited raids, but you cannot do it in your small town. That’s why it resorts to spoofing to be able to do just that.
What’s the problem with cheaters? Many aspects of Pokémon GO are designed primarily for one player. If a cheater or fair player catches a Pokémon somewhere in the world, it doesn’t matter at first.
However, it becomes problematic in fights in the arena. Here, counterfeiters can fly from one arena to another in seconds and eject Pokémon anywhere. As a fair player, he often can’t keep up.
There are tons of reports of players from different communities barely able to sit in the arenas of their city. The spoofers come right away and kick them out again.
Isn’t your conscience guilty? Ramses sees traps from a positive point of view. He thinks he can help other players with that and fair players can play poorly too. He says: “Better a fake with a heart than a legitimate one without character.”
The YouTuber reports that he has already been kicked out of the arenas by fair gamers and followed suit. He would not do that as a cheater and think that those coaches can also be harmful to the community.
Ramses even claims that cheaters are good at the game and help fund it. As an example, he mentions: “Someone who gambles legitimately and does a 1-star raid once a week with the free pass, which does not bring sales to Niantic. (…) Sometimes counterfeiters are not wrong in this regard if they complete 100 raids the first night. ”
How does Pokémon GO deal with spoofing? The game developers officially prohibit spoofing. For this, they even sued large cheat providers. However, the reality is that so far very little has been done against cheaters.
As a coach, you can report cheaters, but in most cases, Niantic is unresponsive. However, there are always bans against cheaters who then cannot gamble for a while or in rare cases lose their account entirely.
