On our iPhone we can access our contacts both from the Contacts app and from the Contacts tab in the Phone app. Some essential contacts to be able to communicate that, sometimes, due to some error in the configuration, they may have disappeared. Let’s see how to bring them back quickly .
Different scenarios to recover our contacts easily
The most common thing is that we use iCloud to synchronize our contacts between all our devices and keep them safe. Doing so that they disappear from the iPhone is really inconvenient (less if we have made a backup when exporting the contacts ), but it has an easy solution . In order, these are the steps we must take.
- Check that all groups are visible:since contact groups can be shown or hidden to reduce the list we see. Making sure they’re all visible is as easy as opening the Contacts app or the Contacts tab in the Phone app , tapping Groups in the top left, and making sure Everyone in iCloud is turned on.
- Check the configuration of our Apple ID:it is through it that we synchronize our contacts. We just have to open the Settings app and verify that our name appears at the top and log in if not.
- Check syncing with iCloud:If syncing is handled by Apple ID, it’s the Contacts setting that turns syncing on or off individually. By opening the Settings app , tapping on our name, and tapping on iCloud , let’s make sure Contacts is turned on.
- Restart our iPhone:since it could be a random error. Turning off iPhone and waiting 15 seconds before turning it back on usually fixes any errors that don’t depend on the settings we just checked.
As always, let’s also make sure that our iPhone is running the latest version of the operating system available. We can do it within the Settings app , entering General and then Software Update . We can also try signing out of the Apple ID in Settings > our name and tapping Sign Out before signing back in.
How to export all our contacts from iCloud
At this point, the next thing would be to completely reset the iPhone, always having a backup, or go to an Apple Store so they can help us. It is very rare that we must reach these steps, however, because with the ones that we have exposed in this article we should be able to bring our contacts back in a matter of seconds
