What is special about Counter-Strike 1.6?

It is hardly a secret to anyone else that Counter-Strike (CS) is the world’s most popular online computer game in the First Person Shooter (MMOFPS) genre. It is also the most popular team computer game in principle. Professional tournaments with huge cash prizes have been held on it for a long time. It is here that some of the most expensive skins in the computer games industry are bought and sold. Many players are so fanatical that they are willing to shell out thousands of dollars to make their weapons look special in the game.

The essence of the game is simple and has long become a canon for most games in this genre. Players are divided into 2 teams: Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists. Depending on the type of cards, the goals in the game can be different. But whatever the goal, the main thing is to kill as many enemies as possible, i.e. rivals of the other team.

The most popular cards in the game are cards with the “de_” prefix. Any player knows that this is a mode in which the Terrorist team should plant a bomb at a designated location. Spetsnaz, in turn, must defuse the bomb, and do it in a certain time. Or kill all the Terrorists.

Cards with the prefix “cs_” assume the protection or release of hostages from Terrorists.

The motivation for the players is monetary reward. Moreover, the reward for each is individual and depends on how the player showed himself in battle, how many enemies he killed, whether he was able to install (or defuse) a bomb, etc.

The reward is especially important in Counter-Strike version 1.6, since all weapons and equipment, except for the standard pistols (Glock and USP), issued by default, are bought for money in the game.

What is the distinguishing feature of Counter-Strike 1.6? This is a variation of the so-called classic CS of the very first version. On Steam, this version of the game is directly referred to as “Counter-Strike 1” or even simply “Counter-Strike”.

In fact, this is the most beloved version of the fans, has stood the test of time, during which the balance of the game was honed to perfection. It is CS 1.6 that is used by professional players. It was on it that the lion’s share of the tournaments was held before the appearance of the new part of the game “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” (CS: GO). Despite the large flow of players to the new version, the classic “CS 1.6” is still popular among fans and oldfags. Also, this version of the game will definitely appeal to the owners of weak computers.
