Esperantido is the term used in Esperanto and in the artificial language community to describe a Esperanto-based or inspired language project. Esperantido originally referred to the Ido language, which later came to be known as Ido. The word Esperant gone is derived from the Esperanto junction, plus the suffix -ido (descending). Thus, “Esperantido” literally means “a descendant of Esperanto”. The first known Esperantido was Mundolinco , proposed by J. Braakman (or Braakmann) in Noordwijk , Netherlands , around 1888 . The term was coined by Claus J. Günkel .
