Introduction
The city of Bayamo in its historical development includes a series of events that make it call it the Cradle of Cuban Nationality. One of the most emblematic events that occurred in this territory was the burning of Bayamo on January 12 , 1869 , a town that preferred to embrace its wealth to the flames than to hand it over to Spanish hands.
In commemoration of this date, each year in this territory a series of collateral actions are developed in order to pay tribute to this rebellious attitude assumed by the people of Bayamese,
one of them is precisely the event “Fishing for Trout”.
Events
One of the events that take place and which in turn is little publicized is Trout fishing, which emerged since 1983 specifically in the Laguna del Leonero , located in the municipality of Río Cauto , several specialists qualify this event as one the best in Latin America . The power of convocation extends to all the provinces of the country.
Organizing Committee
Each year the organizing committee of the province outlines strategies to bring this sport to the thirteen municipalities of this geography.
To lay the foundations for the event and guarantee its replacement, the Sport Fishing Federation carries out systematic work with the new generations, mainly with children between the ages of 5 and 10, mainly the cities of Bayamo , Rio. Cauto and Niquero .
In an interview with the President of the Sport Fishing Federation of the province, Néstor Eduardo García Arias: ¨A assured that this event will continue to take place here for many more years… ¨
