Tortilla Soup. Aztec soup, also known as tortilla soup, originates from pre-Hispanic times, in the state of Tlaxcala, Mexico. Tlaxcala means “Place where tortillas abound” or “Land of corn”. Tortilla Soup Ingredients
- 1/4 kilo of tomato or red tomato
- 1 tablespoon of onion
- 1 small garlic clove
- 1 sprig of epazote
- 10 tortillas
- 1/2 liter of chicken broth
- 1 can of Nestlé cream
- 1/2 shredded chicken breast
- 1 cup of oil
- 1 avocado
- Salt to taste
- In the blender, grind the tomato together with the onion, garlic, 1/2 tablespoon of salt and half a cup of water.
- On the grill, place a saucepan with a spoon of oil and add the sauce.
- Rectify the taste of salt and season.
- Add 3/4 of the chicken stock. Bring to boil about 10 minutes.
- Cut the tortillas into strips 3 to 4 cm long x 1 wide and fry.
- Place the fried tortillas on a sheet of absorbent paper.
- In a deep plate take a handful of fried tortillas and pour the sauce, so that it is neither too dry nor with too much broth.
